Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Thursday evening condemned the actions of rioters who attempted to set fire to a police precinct and blocked the exits while officers were inside.
“When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder," Wheeler said in a news conference with Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell.
"Don’t think for a moment that you are if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump — because you absolutely are," he said. "You are creating the B-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump during this campaign. If you don’t want to be part of that, then don’t show up.”

You see that the mayor’s true concern was not for the victims of this arson, but for the political considerations involved.
He had no problem with this for 2 months, until he finally figured out it might help Trump get re-elected, now he says they’re bad little boys...
If he thought it would actually help Biden or hurt Trump, he’d be out there with them and he’d bring a flamethrower...
I’m not sure what he thought the endgame would be when he gave the protesters space to “riot”. What a maroon.
In another week he will be saying Trump was behind the rioting just for this purpose.

Fake condemnation. If the mayor cared about police lives he would put an immediate end to these life threatening attacks.

They realize they need to somehow stop them but may not be able to because they intentionally sought out damaged individuals to riot.
