Actress Zoe Saldana has tearfully apologized for playing the role of Nina Simone in the 2016 movie Nina, citing her lack of African-American heritage, and saying the late iconic singer and civil rights activist “deserved better.”
Saldana, who is of Dominican, Puerto Rican, Haitian, and Lebanese ancestry, said in an interview on Instagram Live with Pose creator Steven Canals that she regretted taking the role in which she wore a prosthetic nose and skin-darkening makeup to more closely resemble Simone.
“I should have never played Nina,” Saldana said tearfully. “I should have done everything in my power with the leverage that I had 10 years ago, which was a different leverage, but it was leverage nonetheless. I should have done everything in my power to cast a black woman to play an exceptionally perfect black woman.”

Has the crew of the play “Hamilton” apologized yet for their cultural appropriation?
And have all the blacks apologized for driving cars, using air conditioning, eating with forks, knives and spoons, wearing clothes, watching TV, using electricity and light bulbs, flying in airplanes, living in houses instead of huts, using showers, toilets, and on and on and on.
Why any white puts up with any of these cultural appropriation crap without throwing it back at their faces is beyond me.
And I want to appropriate their shithole culture the way I want a hole in my head!
Every movie shall from this day forward, and all days past, feature Michelle Obama in the leading role. If she is unavailable, Oprah Winfrey shall be cast in her place.

Geez. With her heritage she probably is about 35% African descent. What the bleep is she apologizing for? Barack Obama is playing a black President with only 50% african heritage. What about Mariah Carey who identifies as black with only one black grandmother, who was American so probably somewhat white, making Mariah only about 17% African.
What about all the Italian or Armenian actors playing Jews? Hell, the female lead on outlander is IRISH playing a Brit. How dare she? All those British actors daring to pretend to be American? And vice versa? How dare they all pretend to be something they aren’t exactly!! And what of the three lead men on Frasier playing straight men, who were gay??
Where the hell does this stop?
