New York GE workers beg Trump to save jobs from outsourcing

Union workers in upstate New York are pleading with President Trump to help prevent layoffs by requiring the Tennessee Valley Authority to build six massive new electricity generators in the US instead of moving some overseas.

The TVA is a federally owned electricity supplier in Tennessee and neighboring states. On Monday, Trump fired two TVA board chairmen and demanded the TVA president’s ouster for laying off Americans while outsourcing tech jobs to a company in India.

Workers at the historic General Electric campus in Schenectady — where Thomas Edison once worked — hope Trump will now help them. The factory is slated to build three “H35” power plant generators for the TVA next year, but another three are expected to be built by GE in Poland.

Calvin Coolidge worked very hard to prevent the TVA from ever getting started.

He finally had to cave, and now the Tennessee Valley Authority has employees in Upstate New York worried about their jobs.

Mission creep anyone?

I’m all for keeping the work in the US.

As long as it’s done in a right to work state.

Which NYS, where I live, ain’t.

I think these are employees of GE who make steam turbines for the TVA.

I believe the employees in upstate NY work for General Electric, not the TVA.

They had a meeting about it at the WH. They got a call during the meeting that the CEO had reversed course on the outsourcing.

“They got a call during the meeting that the CEO had reversed course on the outsourcing.”

AAAhhh...to bad. The liberals could have filled up more H1b visas that they could get into the polling system. That was a stupid move.

” now the Tennessee Valley Authority has employees in Upstate New York worried about their jobs”

That’s a complete misunderstanding or mischaracterization of this situation.

First, the contract has already been awarded to Ge. GE has decided they will make 3 of the power generators in NY and 3 in Poland.

GE workers in NY have a desire they all be Made in USA. After all TVA is a federally owned utility and the plants will be in the US.

What the hell is wrong with that?

Trump just fired the leader of the enterprise because he outsourced his IT organization to India.

Got a problem with that too?

If they quit their unions I’d help them. Unions are a cancer.

No this is about sending another critical technology out of the United States. Once those people are let go, you don’t get them back. If you can’t build main turbines for generation anymore you are screwed.

So few new main turbines are being built because of the environmental movement that we are to the point where each of these facility losses is a national security issue.
