An Ohio churchgoer sparked a coronavirus outbreak that spread to more than 90 other people after he attended a service, Gov. Mike DeWine said.

The 56-year-old man, who was not identified, was infected with the virus when he attended church on June 14, news station WLWT reported.

Following the service, the virus “spread like wildfire” and 91 people throughout five counties developed symptoms, DeWine said.

“[It’s] very scary,” the Republican governor said during a Tuesday press conference, according to news station WKYC.

DeWine said that he’s sending a letter to the state’s faith leaders to discuss better ways to protect their worshipers.

Good thing John Lewis’s church service wasn’t susceptible to the virus, those attendees didn’t even have to wear masks.

Maybe he caught it there? Maybe some of the other people already had it?

Yes. I’d like to see the tracing research results showing he was patient zero at that church. And how they figured out that nearly 100 people got it from that man in that building because none of them could possibly have been exposed by anyone else.

We do the same at our church, went to two services, spread the rows out, etc.

A Pentecostal church in the next county over, that was doing their usual unmasked, no social distancing small group prayer/speaking in tongues, laying on of hands stuff as well as a normal graduation ceremony on Memorial Day weekend ended up with over 200 positive, 2/3rds of their congregation. 5 hospitalized but I don’t think they had any deaths.

I’m not a hugger or a handshaker, so I don’t mind the social distancing at church. I am not worried about catching Covid myself but we do have some extremely aged or at risk members so I would like to not endanger them nor put our church in the crosshairs of the local Christ Haters, so I prefer that we continue to take simple precautions that are really just good manners. Especially the stay home when your sick and keep your sick kids home.

My youngest got RSV at 7 months and spent nearly a week in ICU because the pastor’s wife brought their feverish kids to church, I was so pissed at her, they were obviously flushed and snotty. I should have made a stink at the time, but I was stupid and polite. Never again.

One family in San Antonio, Texas went to get tested, they signed up but left when the wait was too long. They all tested positive for Covid. My neighbor knows the family.

We need to see a list of people, names redacted but available for check, of the people who supposedly got the virus traced to this guy, how they were traced to him, whether anyone had symptoms, and if so, how serious they were. Without this proof, it’s all B.S.

they need to prove it. and absolutely beyond any reasonable doubt before they do ANYTHING to impact anyone’s bill of rights... and even then... at some point they will use the same strategy to control Christianity and conservatives over a simple seasonal cold or even allergy alerts... Dewine is a pu$$y demoncrat dressed in a Rhino suit.

this government system/strategy of socialist enforcement strategies needs to go to Guantanamo, or the block wall.
constitutional rights are not superseded by a highly subjective mystery illness that even the professionals cannot agree on.

afraid of infection YOU wear a mask. NOT me.
“But you could spread it asymptomatically” BS!

very doubtful and medically disputed.
deprivation of essential rights under duress and dispute... are the very == Casus belli

enough.

Bullcrap. Did the guy go around hugging and slobbering on everyone? What idiots, in this day and time, would allow that?

My SBC church has been having live services for a couple months now. At less than half capacity, everyone separated, masks encouraged, no contact allowed. No issues, no cases, no risk.

So there were 90 people at that church..so was this man the ONLY person at the church who got covid? I don’t get it. Wouldn’t many other people at that church also come down with covid?

I have wondered about this myself. It would be easy to spray it around especially in the air conditioning system.
