New York AG seeks to dissolve NRA in lawsuit accusing leaders of self-dealing, causing $64 million in losses

New York Attorney General Letitia James was set to announce Thursday that the state is seeking to dissolve the National Rifle Association in a lawsuit that accuses the leadership of the flagging nonprofit of diverting millions of dollars for their own personal use.

According to the lawsuit, the senior leadership of the NRA squandered millions in donations on personal trips, private jets and expensive meals. The failure to lawfully manage the organization’s funds contributed to losses of $64 million over three years, the suit says.

James is asking the court to dissolve the NRA and require each of the current and former executives named in the suit to pay full restitution. The suit argues that the four executives, including CEO Wayne LaPierre, shouldn’t be permitted to ever again serve on the board of a New York charity.

The suit continues a long-running battle between the state and the gun-rights group, which has been chartered in New York since 1871. James, who is a Democrat, threatened to investigate the NRA’s nonprofit status during her campaign for attorney general and likened the group in 2018 to a “terrorist organization.”

Everyone here is making fun of the lawsuit but let me share an insight. Charitable organizations like NRa that misuse donor money is fair game and the courts won’t like it. La Pierre is done. He will be lucky to stay out of prison.

Why doesn’t the AG investigate Killer Cuomo? He is personally responsible for the deaths of thousands of nursing home elderly.

She's making another Demagogic Party move against the Constitution, and she should be removed.

Personal trips, private jets and expensive meals are tax deductible entertainment expenses.

I got to get my eyes checked. I through the story was about Attorney General Lebron James seeking to dissolve the NBA. That’s a cause I can get behind, lol!

Seriously, I hope that the NRA can get their house in order internally. I remember Oliver North was trying to fix things, but got railroaded.

Many years ago, I once had to use ten bullets to kill a deer. I was hypnotized by its large rack and I shot at it with open sights nine times at about 50 yards. It even let me reload my clip once and it never moved. Finally, on the last shot, I said “Please Lord” and I actually aimed for once and it dropped like a load of bricks. That deer is hanging on my wall with the tale of woe and sorrow to go along with it.

I’m SURE this has nothing to do with the NRA being a staunch defender of our 2nd Amendment rights.

Its headquarters is in Virginia, but it has always been chartered in New York.

This act is a criminal use of taxpayer money. Weaponized government.

When very wealthy people are being robbed and mugged just outside their buildings, they are going to come back.

They will dump their homes and relocate to safer cities. When they realize that everything is cheaper somewhere else and they can visit NYC when they want; and at a far less cost than living there, even better.

They are really pushing for an all out war in this country. Gun owners against those that are against them. Guess who wins?
