Here's What You Need To Remember: The United States has become increasingly aggressive about slowing down or halting Chinas industrial espionage efforts. This has included indictments of PLA officers, broad condemnations of Chinese spying, and targeted reprisals against some Chinese firms. But given the extensive commercial contacts between China and the United States, stopping the flow of technology is virtually impossible.
As the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) emerged from war and revolution in 1949, it became apparent that the Chinese economy lacked the capacity to compete with the U.S. or the U.S.S.R. in the production of advanced military technology. Transfers from the Soviet Union helped remedy the gap in the 1950s, as did transfers from the United States and Europe in the 1970s and 1980s. Still, the Cultural Revolution stifled technology and scientific research, leaving the Chinese even farther behind.
Thus, China has long supplemented legitimate transfers and domestic innovation with industrial espionage. In short, the PRC has a well-established habit of pilfering weapons technology from Russia and the United States. As the years have gone by, Beijings spies have become ever more skillful and flexible in their approach. Here are five systems that the Chinese have stolen or copied, in whole or in part:
HA! China is on a downward economic spiral not likely to stop anytime soon. They couldn’t even win a border skirmish with India for God’s sake.
Yup, I do know about that. But they can *detect* spoofing attempts and try to localize the spoofing transmitter. They were unable to do so in a timely fashion - it was posted to FR not long ago. I don’t have time to go dig it back up as I’m at work currently, but it’s been discussed here before.
Eventually, a team figured out likely sources some weeks later, IIRC.
China’s military surpassed the U.S. back during the late Obama period. Analysts now say China would defeat the U.S. if there was a war.
China has missile supremacy in the Western Pacific / Asia and now has an overwhelming advantage over the U.S. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/05/09/asia-pacific/us-china-military-missile-western-pacific/
Right now its projected that the U.S. would LOSE a war with China. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/world/the-times/us-would-lose-any-war-with-china-in-pacific/news-story/989d5832d6460e3bd7bbab4ca983967b
Another sad legacy of the Obama years, but Trump cannot right the ship given the internal insurgency now going on by the Democrats and the Left, largely underwritten by the CCP. I don’t know how they are laundering the money to antifa and the other leftists, or to the Democrat politicians in their pocket.
China & Russia together will surpass US military & economic power, if they haven’t already. It’s inevitable. We are going to have to have with them.
To have peace with them.
Perhaps and likely so the machines they produce hard drives on now are an evolution of what they were given before.
In any case it will take more than 10 yrs to convince me they have suddenly become innovative on their own. They are far to corrupt in their business dealings as judged by how we do business (not saying we don’t engage in industrial espionage but not against China)
Theyll never catch up with us unless we surrender, and dont forget it!
They own us financially.
The author is a moron. It is never too late, unless there is no will.
But everyone know the Chicoms are terrified of our tranny and pillow biter commandos.
Stop buying Chinese.
Red China is a COMMUNIST state which tyrannically rules and is aiming
thousand of nuclear missiles at us.
What kind people continue transferring trillions of dollar to Red China? WAKE UP or perish.
Our great strength is our ability to innovate. Our great weakness is that we have a deepstate that does everything in its power to strangle innovation. The biggest threat to genuinely new and advanced military equipment is a deepstate operated Defense acquisition process that strangles innovation. No one in DC has a good word to say about the process, but for every dollar that goes into development, production or engineering a couple of dollars go into useless strangling bureaucracy. The federal employees are only the tip of the iceberg. The real cost is all the useless contractors filling all the high-rise office buildings encircling the beltway. Not one of them does a damn thing towards actually making something that works.
And drain the swamp. You need both steps.
FAKE NEWS - we spend 5 times as much on our military as China does. There is simply NO WAY they can challenge us. It’s time we stop posting TRASH like this.
(don’t blame the messenger, that’s what I see posted RIGHT HERE)
Pfffttt. Yeah, Japan and Australia are the best judges of current US military readiness.
You make a fool of yourself while running for your fainting couch.
Consider this: China gets 30% of all its electricity from one single dam, and all of its food from 7% of its land area. Almost all of its oil comes from the Middle East or Russia. Those are all critical choke points in a war with us.
Name one single extra territorial war or battle that the CCP has won. We have been at war since 1941 - all over the planet. The PLA does a great job of killing unarmed Chinese women and children, they suck at real combat.
Full article.
In order to have a meaningful discussion about this the nature of the conflict must be defined, the shape of the battlefield, the definition of winning and losing, etc. I have not seen any of these posted so far.
Stop all trade with a China.
Respectfully, I think this kind of story is encouraged by our Military-Industrial Complex (Eisenhower’s term). I went to the U.S.S.R. during The Cold War. We were told that the Russians had reached parity, and would soon eclipse us, Beware !
What I saw with my own eyes was so primitive, as to be beyond beleif. Phones, food disrtibution, automobiles, consumer products and what passed for retail shopping - we were a thousand times more advanced, and they knew it.
I suspect similar to China, today. Thank you.
The problem with the Navy is that is top heavy with stupidity and hubris.
