The Real Problem with Saying 'All Lives Matter'
American Thinker.com ^ | August 1, 2020 | Warren Beatty

Back in 2015, several dozen demonstrators interrupted Democrat presidential candidate Martin O'Malley (D-Md.) while he spoke at the Netroots Nation conference in Phoenix. They shouted, "Black lives matter!" The former Maryland governor responded, "Black lives matter. White lives matter. All lives matter." The demonstrators, who were mostly black, responded by booing him and shouting him down.

In a New York Times article written at the time, Judith Butler tried to explain away the demonstration by saying, "When some people rejoin with 'All Lives Matter' they misunderstand the problem, but not because their message is untrue. It is true that all lives matter, but it is equally true that not all lives are understood to matter, which is precisely why it is most important to name the lives that have not mattered, and are struggling to matter in the way they deserve. If we jump too quickly to the universal formulation, 'all lives matter,' then we miss the fact that black people have not yet been included in the idea of 'all lives.'"

In a July 11, 2016 article entitled "Why you should stop saying 'all lives matter,' explained in 9 different ways," German Lopez says, "But the point of Black Lives Matter isn't to suggest that black lives should be or are more important than all other lives. Instead, it's simply pointing out that black people's lives are relatively undervalued in the US — and more likely to be ended by police [emphasis his] — and the country needs to recognize that inequity to bring an end to it." Vox offered no explanation for Lopez's use of "undervalued," assuming, perhaps, that there could be no misunderstanding.

almost 2 hours. heard mention of this by chance; had trouble finding it, in the same way mentioned by some in the comments. BLM/media/Dems/Sharpton/Benjamin Crump/George Floyd - everything is called into question, and it is amazing that the Trayvon trial was in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election and now the BLM riots are taking place in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election:

Youtube: The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America - film
by Joel Gilbert
Synopsis: In this stunning work of investigative journalism, filmmaker Joel Gilbert uncovers the true story of the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a case that divided America. By examining Trayvon’s 750-page cell phone records, Gilbert discovers that the key witness for the prosecution of George Zimmerman, the plus-sized 18-year-old Rachel Jeantel, was a fraud. It was in fact a different girl who was on the phone with Trayvon just before he was shot. She was the 16-year-old named “Diamond” whose recorded conversation with attorney Benjamin Crump ignited the public, swayed President Obama, and provoked the nation’s media to demand Zimmerman’s arrest...

Gilbert’s painstaking research takes him through the high schools of Miami, into the back alleys of Little Haiti, and finally to Florida State University where he finds Trayvon’s real girlfriend, the real phone witness, Diamond Eugene. Gilbert confirms his revelations with forensic handwriting analysis and DNA testing. After obtaining unredacted court documents and reading Diamond’s vast social media archives, Gilbert then reconstructs the true story of Trayvon Martin’s troubled teenage life and tragic death. In the process, he exposes in detail the most consequential hoax in recent American judicial history, The Trayvon Hoax, that was ground zero for the downward spiral of race relations in America. This incredible film (and book) has the potential to correct American history and bring America back together again.

That statement has been proven untrue, time and again.

Permit me to cut through the smokescreen. The bottom line is that today’s fascist left demands 100% obedience. No deviation is permitted.

So if they say black lives matter, you must say black lives matter.
If they say defund the police, you must say defund the police.
If they say Trump is a monster, you must say Trump is a monster.

Etc.

Wouldn't it be great if people focused on making their lives matter by living rather than protesting about who's life mattered?

By living I mean take care of your family and friends, go to church, go to work, build a business, go to the gym, take care of your health and perhaps all too many people need to see a shrink everyday because they do not know what matters.

Heard a theologian the other say of course all lives matter, but we were told in the bible that the Sheppard leaves the flock to find the one lost sheep. Thus we should not be worried about the 99 but about the one that is lost. Not sure that I totally disagree with that sentiment.

Do pedophiles lives matter? when we say all lies matter I’m assuming it’s in a good way. I’m assuming that’s because that’s the way it is being used and it is a complete falsehood.

now I am speaking of the following and asking if their lives mattered in a good way...for the good of mankind is what these idiot all lives matter folks are saying and black lives matters folks are saying.

Did Hitler’s life matter? Was it better that he was born? Stalin? Mao? Rapists.

Two of my ex’s? All right maybe they did to somebody

not all lies matter. The guys who blew up the twin towers. The guys who an the Holocaust camps.

When they say all lives matter What they mean is that hippie nonsense that every life is important. Like Hitler’s. And the 911 bombers. But not aborted babies of course....

Fo

Is “defund the police” the more palatable version of:

*What do we want?*

*Dead cops!*

*When do we want ‘em?*

*Now!*

The current permutation may be easier to sell to white suburban moms until the horse has been wheeled all the way in.

Bullsh##. Are there laws on the books that say you have to treat people differently based on skin color? The people who haven’t been included in “all lives” and are pissed off have never attempted to be included.

One of the conservative talk show radio guys was commenting on the phrase “Black Lives Matter”.

He said something like “Okay - of course black lives matter. All lives matter. Only an idiot would say that black lives DON'T matter. So - we all agree that ‘black lives matter’. But that's not what they mean. Using that phrase they are saying that black lives matter, but America has systemic racism, and whites are privileged - so we will force you to make black lives matter. The phrase is code for America and whites are evil. Just try it. Reply to them “Of course black lives matter. But America is not systemically racist. You'll just get shouted at. Or worse.”

If we jump too quickly to the universal formulation, 'all lives matter,' then we miss the fact that black people have not yet been included in the idea of 'all lives.'

If that's the reasoning, then BLM should be fine with the phrases "Black lives also matter", or "Black lives matter too". Somehow, I don't think they would be.

Ironically, the place where Black Lives Matter least seems to be in the black community.

How else do you explain black-on-black shootings, gang culture, fatherless homes, and opposition to those who strive to educate themselves to better themselves?

The black community is its own worst enemy, and all BLM intends to accomplish is to make their problems not only acceptable to the rest of us (as in their crimes are to be ignored by our legal system), but accountable to the rest of us as well (as in White Men are to blame for any faults or failures they have).

It’s a sweet set-up for them if we either fall for it or are bullied into kowtowing to it.

Someone let me know when they start demonstrating about the 94% of black murder victims that were murdered by other blacks, instead of only when the democrats can use it as a talking point.

What century do they live in? Since the late 90’s we’ve had a black presidents, black SOS, AGs Governors, Mayors, Senators, Representatives, sports stars, Oscar winners, and many more. Some of the richest, most loved and respected people in America have been black. Every famous biracial person in America identifies as black. Now if you’re talking about black on black crime in your big cities I’d agree, but that’s a different story.
