Wednesday on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” movie mogul and actor Tyler Perry expressed his concerns over the so-called “Defund Police” protests around the country.
Perry indicated he was “worried” the message was “being hijacked” for the sake of politics in the wake of George Floyd’s death while in the custody of Minneapolis police.
“So, when they saw George Floyd’s death, this horrific, horrible death played out as this man pleaded for his life and begged and said ‘please’ many, many times, it — seeing it changes everything,” he explained. “So I became very, very optimistic when everybody galvanized together because I know that’s when change comes. When people galvanize and come together as one, that’s when change happens.”
“But, lately, I’ve been very, very concerned that the message is being hijacked by some other groups or political ads and parties that are trying to stop the message of what we’re asking for here as police reform, right?” Perry continued. So, yeah, I was, but I’m worried now because of what I’m seeing.”
Perry also spoke about paying for supermarket gift cards for Atlanta Police to hand out at a Kroger grocery store on the heels of Rayshard Brooks’ death. When posed a question about the political backlash generated from protesters calling for the defunding of police, Perry stressed his view that police were a necessity.

My Prediction: This speech by Tyler will be heard by his current housemates aka Duke & Duchess of Sussex.
Megan, the head of her household will decide Tyler is ‘sadly out of step with history’ and will start looking for another of Oprah’s rich buddys that she and Harry can live on (free of charge, of course). If/when that happens, Tyler will be delighted to have his house back again, free of all squatters , whiners and grifters.

Anyone with a brain thinks we need more police. We may need changes to police policy and practices, but only Antifa and their Democrat enablers think reducing or eliminating the police is a good idea.
Tell ya what, if Trump wants to convert black folks away from liberalism, he would probably do better luring Tyler Perry to the team than Kanye West!
I disagree with Mr. Perry on this.
I think we pay far too much, and suffer too many criminal injuries for police that will not enforce property law.
If the police will not enforce property law, the people have no use for them whatsoever.
As for personal security, the cops don’t provide that either. It is now, always has been and will always be that the individual is responsible for their own safety.
Worse, the police stand as a barrier to the people who need to protect their property and their lives.
50% across the board cut tomorrow. Evaluate for further cuts after 1 year.
And no more traffic tickets or other BS these standing armies use to extract more lifeblood from the people.
To be more precise, "We need more police in hell-hole neighborhoods and cities where crime is out of control."
My disdain and disgust for feckless polticians (read democrats) is beyond words!

I’m with you for the most part when it comes to traffic stops but after spending a week in Lima, Peru, you get thankful for the traffic rules here that are in place.
There should be some middle ground between the two extremes.
Tyler is one of the few good people in show business, even if I may not always agree with him.
We need police to walk beats again, and get to personally meet face to face the people they serve.
And more prisons. The best way to end over-crowding in prisons is to build more extra-roomy prisons.
Probably worried he will NEVER get Harry and Me Again out of his house.... Nor any rent either.
Insane asylums would help considerably!
He certainly puts the lie to the #1 piece of racism promoted by white Liberals in this country, that black people are stupid.
Sad that it took him so long to figure it out, but at least he did.
