CHICAGO (WLS) -- The COVID-19 positivity rate in Illinois and its 11 health regions continues to rise, prompting stern warnings from Governor JB Pritzker Wednesday.

Illinois reported 1,393 new COVID-19 cases and 18 additional deaths Wednesday. The preliminary seven-day positivity rate for July-21 to July 27 stands at 3.8%, but some regions have positivity rates much closer to the 8% that will trigger increased restrictions.

"We've made progress in Illinois, but we've also seen it can be fleeting. And right now, things are not heading in the right direction," Pritzker said.

I would not be at all surprised that a concerted effort is underway to somehow infect the public so that at least the infection rate stays consistent or grows through the election.

Notice they never talk about actual mortality rates?

Death rate is way down: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/illinois/ In May there were 120 deaths a day from 2400 cases a day two weeks prior. That's 5% death rate. Right now there are 16 deaths a day from 1000 cases a day two weeks ago. That's 1.6% death rate. The actual deaths, then and now, are much lower due to undetected cases, but that's gives you an idea.

I don’t get the positivity rate thing.
People get tested when they feel sick and think they might have it. Why does it matter if a higher percentage are actually testing positive?

Especially in states crucial to Trump in November. It would have looked way out of whack for blue states to always have low numbers so they tool care of them early on so now they look admirable compared to the states that will most affect Trump’s election.

Oh good grief, each and every day we witness the complete idiocy of the Democrat party. Science never has been and never will be their friend.

And truth certainly is no friend of the media nowadays.
Positivity rate and death rate are....why continue?
Democrats can’t read and comprehend anyway. Liberal arts “edikashun” ya know.

Did anyone ask him, how do they define a “CASE”? The semantics related to “cases” is the huge unknown, IMHO, and the MSM are so irresponsible as to ignore this issue, because it might turn out to be good news, after all.

Death rates typically follow the trend in new cases on a 14-16 day lag (basically because it takes that long to die from it after contracting it, if you’re one of the unlucky ones who is going to die from it).

My parents went for a test in Florida and the line was very long. So they left. They were then informed that they had tested positive. More of their friends had the same experience.

Let me guess. The region with highest increased positivity is the same region that had total uncontrolled Burning, Looting, Murder rioting in late May through July culminating with the recent “peaceful” attempts to topple the Columbus statue in Grant Park which ended when Mayor BeetleGroot toppled them on her own in the middle of the night. I’m sure all that Democrat approved action in the streets has nothing to do with the Covid spike.

It doesn’t matter what they say either one is. It’s way too easy for them to just lie about whatever statistic they choose.

None of it is trustworthy, and IMO it’s all propaganda, being used to manipulate the public.

So you believe there’s a “covid spike”?

To each his own, I guess.

Places that locked down the most and are still locked down and masked the most had the highest spread and the highest death rates.
