People in cities along China's Yangtze River, already swamped with water, are now scrambling to shore up embankments as the world's largest dam faces fast mounting flood pressure...
The Three Gorges Dam spans the Yangtze, Asia's longest river, which has become a raging torrent with storm water pouring into the reservoir of the dam at 60 million litres per second on Monday night.
On Tuesday morning, dam operator the China Three Gorges Group said water flow into the reservoir fluctuated between 50 million and 60 million litres per second.
And the peak flow has not eased, adding more than ten trillion litres to the mega-dam in just 10 days.
All arteries leading from the Yangtze River remain deluged by the third big flood this summer.
The China Three Gorges Group say they plan to hold as much water in the dam as possible to buy time for cities downstream to build up their defences.
According to local reports, the dam's operator has indicated there are 13 days left before the reservoir will fill to the brim.

It would ‘look’ to cause less damage than a catastrophic collapse would.
Would matter to the Chinese media.
A failure of part of the dam system. But not of all.

The dam originally was not built to the specs. They called in Western engineers to quietly see what they could do about multiple problems at the time - including cracks in the dam before the reservoir was fully filled. IIRC, the engineers only solution for the cracks problem was to inject exotic construction adhesives under pressure into the cracks to hold the dam together.
On paper, the dam *should* hold. But corruption and poor QC make that doubtful.

Fire up Google Maps and go look down in the area on the Satellite view.
Then start counting cars.
Some of the cities downstream of this dam make US mainstays look like backward imitations. No kidding.

What is your thoughts on higher US food prices due to a disaster in China? Thanks.

Much of China’s farmland is getting flooded. They will need to import food, which will raise global prices.
A bigger issue is how much of their manufacturing is along the Yangtze River. I don’t want to think about how many US manufacturing companies depend on parts from China. If your product has dozens of parts, all it takes is not getting one part to shut you down.

That would be a blessing to the world if it failed. The communist party in China would be utterly humiliated in front of the world.
Based on the Wuhan Flu recent history, MSCNN will blame Trump (via Climate Change here), and CCP will gain ground with a giant distraction from atrocities in the Catholic Church in China, trade agreement disparities, Hong Kong, and Hunter Biden.

I don't see the Western World turning back to God. There is repeated and deeper rebellion against God. Which I will post below, as I often do. I see mankind placing their hope in world government, world citizenry, technology, and dictated how to believe and think by the media, Hollywood, "woke" companies, actors, athletes, an idiot "Global Warming" girl, and rap music.
There is false hope being in secular education being preached, secular hope, an education that says God doesn't exist and that bad things are not going to happen. There is a belief, I've seen in in liberals extensively, that they're smarter than "Biblical folks" and that homosexuality is not only good, it's smart to support and encourage it. I've seen this repeatedly in liberal comments, for YEARS, elsewhere. They are constantly talking themselves into this delusion.
I believe the great end-times harvest happens during the 7 years of the Tribulation.
Nothing short of world-war is gonna change things, I'm sorry to say. Maybe earthquakes. I am >>>>NOT<<<< hoping for these things. I remember after 9/11, Christian praise music on TV every night, church attendance up, freedom to speak about God and Jesus Christ. Those things are shunned now, mostly. At least in the public square. I have an uneasy spot in my soul about what will come next. I cannot elucidate what it is, I just feel it in my bones. And I do NOT like that, frankly. I remember 50 years ago how you would often see encouragement to attend the church of your choice (I was driving by several churches Tuesday night). That would never be advertised today like it was back then.
These are signs of the times. IMHO
The 2014 Global Citizen Festival - woohoo, a New World Order! Peace and Safety!

And the Obama hand sign or whatever @1:02. Look @ all of the Globalist fools in the audience doing the salute, as well.

They're all making the hand sign for their hero Manchurian Candidate Barack Hussein Obama.
The fools out rioting, assaulting, looting and burning out in the streets are all products of our current world. Shock troops for Democrat Communists and New World Order stooges.

Yes indeed.
He just needs to arise and confirm that 7-year “covenant of peace”.
We can definitely see it coming. They keep preaching about all the “peace and safety” it will bring to the Middle East and the world.

they claim that it wasnt even dug down into solid bedrock before they started pouring concrete. My understanding is that by design, the dam wasn't coupled to bedrock in order to lessen the risk of seismic activity fracturing the dam.

Sauron of Mordor’s post 148 both gives a slightly longer version of EEE’s point, which is I think is valid but scary, and explains my own point.
This has the potential to do a heck of a lot more real damage to the world Economy than the corona virus, and the panic around it could be worse than the CV panic. I see that Wuhan is down stream from the dam. Having an idea what the collapse would do to Wuhan would be interesting.
Collapse by Jared Diamond is a very good book. Thin fragile supply chains do not make for an enduring civilization.
There was an earthquake in Japan some years ago that kept my Sienna off the road for about 6 weeks.
I don’t sleep easy when there is a potential problem and the only things I can seem to actually do about it is buy rice and toilet paper.
