Dr. Anthony Fauci suggested Wednesday that Americans should consider wearing goggles or a face shield in order to prevent spreading or catching COVID-19.
"If you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it," the nation's top infectious disease expert told ABC News Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton during an Instagram Live conversation on ABC News.
When asked if we're going to get to a point where eye protection is recommended, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases responded, "It might, if you really want perfect protection of the mucosal surfaces."
"You have mucosa in the nose, mucosa in the mouth, but you also have mucosa in the eye," he continued. "Theoretically, you should protect all the mucosal surfaces. So if you have goggles or an eye shield you should use it."
He noted that googles and eye or face shields are "not universally recommended" at this time, "but if you really want to be complete, you should probably use it if you can."

Fauci looks ahead to flu season
As the summer transitions into the fall, Fauci also discussed the oncoming flu season.
Fauci said he hopes wearing masks will help limit the spread of influenza as well.
"It is inevitable that we're going to have some degree of flu," he said. "I'm hoping that the wearing of masks and other coverings are going to not only protect us against COVID-19, but also help protect us against influenza."
"Go out there and get your flu shot when the flu vaccine becomes available," he urged.

The TV commercials for full face masks started a couple of weeks.
So, this is being crowd funded for shipment in _another_ 2 weeks? Obviously, someone thinks this hysteria is ongoing into the indefinite future or a lot of people are willing to pay $250 just in case.

And it all gets coded in medical records as Covid — mo’ money for hospitals!

That article (published 03/11/20) presupposes their conclusion about Wuhan-19 and even specifically states: "Taken at face value, the study indicates people who receive the flu vaccine are at increased risk for coronavirus pre-COVID-19" while referencing this study published in the journal Vaccine Volume 38, Issue 2, 10 January 2020, Pages 350-354.

Conclusions
Receipt of influenza vaccination was not associated with virus interference among our population. Examining virus interference by specific respiratory viruses showed mixed results. Vaccine derived virus interference was significantly associated with coronavirus and human metapneumovirus; however, significant protection with vaccination was associated not only with most influenza viruses, but also parainfluenza, RSV, and non-influenza virus coinfections.
Basically a "coronavirus" is a generic term to describe several different variants of viruses that are similar, first identified nearly 60 years ago, for which there are 7 known variants that can infect humans. Most common variants: 229E, NL63, OC43, HKU1. Other variants: MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV & SARS-CoV-2.

He should either know it will, or admit that masks don't do anything to stop the spread of viruses. If reducing the amount of droplets emitted by people reduces the spread of one virus it should reduce the spread of all viruses that are transmitted by droplets. That's basic science.
But somehow we now have people that should be thinking like scientists who are thinking like politicians.

We will know how "essential" masks and goggles are when we show up at the DMV to renew of photo ID licenses and refuse to take off our masks and goggles. Similarly we'll see if the Department of State will allow people to get a passport with a picture taken wearing a mask and goggles.
How about one that shows Joe Biden inappropriately touching a little girl?
