If masks worked, you wouldn’t be able to smell it if someone passed gas while wearing pants.
I get told here that I have no clue on how surgical masks work...

No idea what you posted and really don’t care. I’m not even talking about the politics of masking, but simply how masks actually work. You are denying the actual physics behind surgical masks.
For your next surgical or otherwise invasive medical procedure, I hope the staff doesn’t wear those masks that “don’t work” so you can find out why they’re worn.

I have a full face respirator with 5gas rated Hepa cartridges. Thats the only one where I truly cannot smell anything..
I’d imagine NBC military masks would do the same.

You may have a point there. My antenna went up the minute I first heard about this virus, I thought, instantly, and still do, that it was engineered by China and intentionally let loose on the world, and specifically the US.
Trump reversed all their unfair trade deals, stopped most of their stealing of intellectual property, they want revenge and have to “save face”.

Masks combined with personal ion generators are effective. I’ve been wearing a surgical mask with a Wein ion generator for years because of my immunocompromised system.

The particle size of a virus is about the same as the particle size of wood smoke odor.
Put on the latest cool fashion mask and light a couple matches. Inhale and small the smoke.
I also tried it with a N-95. Still smelled smoke.

during a medical procedure the mask is worn as the surgeon cannot break sterile technique to cover a cough or sneeze. the mask is a small part of the protection. which includes surgical scrub, surgical drapes, gowns and gloves. The mask is never touched. it is used once and discarded after a short period of time. Procedures are done in meticulously clean rooms with staff wearing hospital laundered scrubs. A far cry from the snot rags people are wearing in grocery stores
