Another wave of heavy rain coming over the next three days. Historically, the end of July/begining of August is the peak for their monsoons, but they started early this year, and have been much heavier than normal.

According to the Nikkei Asian Review, the floods in China have already resulted in the displacement 46 million people, and 17 billion in damages.

They cite Nomura, from a research note on Monday, projecting a 0.2 percentage point drop of third-quarter economic growth, and a higher inflation rate in July and August.

Lots of prime farmland is underwater, and those crops are lost.

Another dangerous week ahead.

Appropos of nothing in particular I’m a little chagrined about a .2% drop in GDP versus what the US has done to itself over CV-19.

Epoch Times reported:

“Despite U.S. agricultural exports to China falling one-third through May due to trade war retaliation, exports have surged above forecast due to the flooding of 433 rivers across China.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that pork, corn, wheat, cotton, rice, sorghum, and soybean exports to China from July 10 to 16 are trending above the Phase 1 annual rate of $32.9 billion negotiated in January by the Trump Administration.”

...”With China’s monsoon rainfall season running about 46 percent higher than normal, and 17 percent higher than the devastating floods of 1998, about 20 percent of the nation’s arable land is now submerged. This could lead to major crop loss this year, with rice, rapeseed and cotton being the most affected by the floods, according to market analyst firm Seeking Alpha.

Furthermore, the African swine fever pandemic that caused the culling of 180 million infected pigs last year returned as floods unearthed shallow graves and contaminated groundwater.”

I would warn to watch out for empathy-seeking stories out of China as being used to reduce anger towards them. I don't know that for sure of course, but it would fit the pattern of a manipulative regime. Remember -> the dems always have a seed of truth to their major lies.

Why all of a sudden are we reading about the terrible thing happening to the poor Chinese people from a regime that seldom publishes its woes and normally only tries to project strength and the excellence of its government, its perfect infrastructure and it's ability to take care of its people? Again, I'm not guaranteeing this is propaganda, but if I'm a manipulative regime doing damage control for Covid, and I can't hide my lies about Covid, I can at least play myself off as some kind of sympathy-generating-victim of something else terrible and awful and woe-is-me-dont-hate-me-Im-in-pain.

Maybe. Maybe not.

“The reservoir level was at 159.46m as of Monday, down from 164.18m about a week ago. Its maximum level is 175m.”

Top is 185m, uncontrolled release then, likely failure.

The entire problem with the dam is China plugged one of the largest converging water basins in the world.

The dam is at 162.45 meters growing about .20 every two hours. The alert happens at 175 meters and water over the top at 185.5 meters

The intake is 55,000 something, and output is 38,400 something give of take a few. So it's taking in more than it can push out. Pics look like river debris buildup on the other side.....s debris and Silt is piling up at the front of the dam. This adds to the math equation

Another thing is the dam is not poured into the bedrock. It sits on top of the bedrock.

(Information is from a Dam builder who is observing the dam and aware of it's operations)

He said we shouldn't be looking at the dam breaking because it will likely overflow before it breaks.....watch the sides the dam......when you see that happening then all bets are off.

I heard yesterday that if the Three Gorges Dam breaks, run to the grocery store and buy all the food you can.

China's need for food will drive shortages and higher prices worldwide will cause many to starve to death.

It's Always Something. (IAS)
