Andrea Bocelli Urges Resistance to Disproportionate Coronavirus Response

The first fights Bocelli had were at home, he said, when he began to express “certain doubts about the severity of this so-called ‘pandemic.’”

“The first to attack me were my children who said to me, ‘Dad, stick to Tosca and Madame Butterfly and leave aside viruses that you know nothing about,’” Bocelli recalled.

“But as time went by, I realized that I know a ton of people, but thank God I didn’t know a single person who had even wound up in intensive care, and I wondered about our drastic response,” he said.

“Distancing myself from any political party, I want to say that there came a time when I felt humiliated and offended by being deprived of the freedom to leave my house, despite having committed no crime,” he said. “And I must confess publicly, and I do so here, that in certain cases I voluntarily disobeyed this prohibition because it seemed neither just nor healthy to stay at home.”

“I think it is important to underscore the matter of our schools and our children,” he said. “I have an 8-year-old daughter and I can’t imagine these kids meeting at school separated by plexiglass barriers and hiding behind face masks.”

“I cannot understand how with such incredible speed we decided to shut down our schools and with the same speed we reopened discotheques, where kids go not to form their brains but to waste them,” he added.

The famous tenor concluded by issuing “a heartfelt appeal to refuse to follow this rule,” while calling for a broad debate in society as well as the formation of a unified front “because this battle can only be won by forming a united front of people with common sense who know how to look beyond their personal interests.”

The global Left has taken up Coronavirus as a great cudgel to pound the world into submission.

They’re using the Karens of the world who think they are looking out for everyone by making them isolate, wear masks, social distancing, keeping people out of crowds, work, school, rallies, etc... And they won’t shut up about it, logic be damned.

And of course, they have unleashed a global news media effort to kiss CCP ass, while showing their anti-Western virtue bonafides, and above all, getting rid of Donald Trump.

So common sense—To HELL with THAT!

Coumo killing thousands of old folks by putting actual sick people into the nursing homes cheek and jowl with uninfected old folks? Doesn’t matter because he IS NOT Donald Trump.

In fact, democrat governors are applauded, while republican governors—because they support Trump—are castigated and denigrated. When Georgia Governor Kemp lifted SOME restrictions in Georgia, with protocols, he was verbally raped on the nightly news. Meanwhile, on the same day, Colorado Governor Polis basically instituted the SAME policies. Not one word about HIS evilness. But then, Kemp is a Republican, and Polis is a democrat.

This virus is a political weapon.

No, I don’t want to get it, nor do I want anyone to get it, let alone suffer.

But it is out there, and spreads will continue to spread, despite our best efforts.

We could all ensure we never get coronavirus one way, and one way only. Kill ourselves now, so the virus can’t.

That’s pretty damn silly, so in the end, Andrea Bocelli is right.

Hahahaha! Broad debate? If you disagree with some factions they call you a bigot. There is no room for debate at this time. A battle? Just turn on any device and watch the city news. A united front? There are 2 fronts; one actively in combat and the other biding their time waiting for them to run out of energy. Common sense? See the opinion piece in Newsweek that just came out from the Yale Virologist who said that HCQ+ is our very best hope to prevent covid deaths but it has been derailed by knee-jerk anti-science politically motivated interest groups in the media, medical establishment and political class who want it to fail merely because Trump brought it to everyone's attention. Follow the science. LOL. Maybe they mean "political science".

I want to know about the case count, because I honestly don’t know... but if someone goes to one of those drive-up testing sites and tests positive... that is a case, right?

And what advice will they be given? Self-isolate, watch for symptoms etc.. and come back and get tested again to see when the virus has cleared.

So they go back and get tested again in a few days, and again a few days later, and again a few days later... is each of those tests counted as a “new case”, because it is anonymous? Or do they cross check the paperwork for people who claim to have tested positive previously to avoid double, triple, quadruple counting?

I know it’s a serious and deadly disease... I’m just curious about how they are actually, and accurately, counting the cases.

This week, the Telegraph reported on a government study, published in April, which estimated both the short-term and long-term impacts of lockdown. In short, it concluded that while lockdown would reduce the number of cases of Covid-19, the collateral damage would be enormous. So was lockdown worth it?

***The report, produced by the Department of Health, the Office of National Statistics (ONS), the government’s Actuary Department and the Home Office, concluded that the disease itself would kill 50,000, but delayed healthcare would kill 12,000 to 25,000 in the short term and 185,000 people in the long term. On top of that, recession could kill anywhere between 600 to 12,000 people, suicide would claim 500 lives, domestic violence about 20, and accidents at home would cause deaths in the ‘low tens’.
In short, perhaps 200,000 people or more could die as a result of the lockdown, according to these estimates...

Children will no doubt suffer from missing so much school...
The economic impact of lockdown is surely far greater than that of more limited action. Many young people entering the world of work right now will be held back in their careers by a spell of unemployment – perhaps affecting if and when they can later settle down and have children. The impact on sectors like hospitality – a sector that has been an important avenue for young people to gain experience and prove themselves in the world of work – could be particularly damaging. Middle-aged people being made redundant may suffer in later life from having lower pension savings...

And all of this ignores more subtle impacts of lockdowns, like the way that important freedoms have been tossed aside or the creation of a climate of fear, which means that even when the regulations are lifted, the impact of the lockdown continues long after...
Investment decisions may continue to be postponed if businesses are fearful, too.

Did our politicians really factor in these impacts when they decided to keep the majority of us at home and forcibly shut down thousands of businesses and schools? Or did they, facing a new viral disease, panic at the problem right in front of them in the face of endless criticism in the media?...

Some of these procedures would have saved or extended lives, granting cancer patients precious extra time with friends and family...

Cancer Research found that 70 per cent of people who had experienced delays or cancellations feel more frustrated and anxious.
One 73-year-old woman with stage four lung and breast cancer said she had had two appointments with oncologists postponed.
She added: ‘I am still waiting to speak to someone to know if I can have treatment. ‘I am very scared. I don’t want to die during this Covid outbreak without seeing my loved ones.’

One man with stage three genitourinary cancer said: ‘Because my treatment has been postponed when I need it most, my cancer has already spread to the lymph nodes and I worry the longer I am left untreated, with zero emotional mental health support, the worse I become or that the cancer spreads further.’...

NHS data shows some 106,535 urgent cancer referrals were made by GPs in England in May – nearly half the 200,599 performed in May 2019.
And 55,500 more people are now waiting to have key cancer tests in England’s hospitals compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile more than two million people have been left waiting for breast, bowel and cervical screening...

I have been a sceptic of the Australian, and most other, government’s reactions to this virus virtually from day one. In fact I started expressing my scepticism for the Speccie Australia way back at the start of April. Nothing I have read about the virus since has changed my mind that the Swedish government got this right (as did Taiwan’s) and virtually the whole of the rest of the democratic world’s political class screwed up big time. What I said back then I’ll repeat now: in a decade this will be looked back on as one of the most colossal public policy fiascos of the century...

Want to bet whether the response would have been less draconian had every politician and bureaucrat had to take a 20 per cent pay cut if businesses were shut down? Want to bet whether the incessant fear-porn of the ABC (Australia) would have stopped if the ABC were looking at a 20 per cent annual cut if a lockdown had to be instituted? (And by ABC ‘fear-porn’ I mean such things as their always choosing the most alarming way to report facts – so ‘deaths’ not ‘deaths per million’; percentage increase or absolute numbers, whichever is worse; saying new cases going up but ignoring death rate is going down; no reporting of normal yearly flu deaths, or car deaths, or that corona hasn’t cracked the top 50 causes of death, or that for those under 45 corona is less lethal (and I mean everywhere in the world) than getting in a car and going for a Sunday drive; never noting anything about Sweden in a non-alarmist light, and so on.)

No skin in the game readers. So they can afford to pretend that the deaths from corona do count in any calculation but the deaths caused by the lockdown (suicides, more cancer from less screening, all the devastation in the Third World from the ruined global economy, deaths from a ruined economy here, etc.) do not count.

In my view, politicians should be looking at massive pay cuts, now. Ditto civil servants. Ditto the ABC. And the pay cuts should stay until we return to normal unemployment rates and are paying off the debt. But don’t hold your breath, mask or no mask.

The nurse, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that ‘hospitals were empty’ apart from Covid-19 wards and ICUs and that people died because of they weren’t treated.
She added that there was ‘no reason’ that cancer screenings and other routine treatments could not have continued throughout lockdown...
Her comments come after a Government report revealed that 200,000 people could die because of delays in healthcare and other economic and social effects all caused by lockdown...

Speaking on the Telegraph’s Planet Normal podcast, the nurse said: ‘We have a lot of deaths in my area but we’re going to have an awful lot more from cancers that are going undiagnosed and strokes that haven’t been treated.
‘It cuts both ways. We have hospitals that didn’t want to have patients come in and we have patients who don’t want to come in to hospital because of I think what’s been an awful lot of scaremongering from the Government, unfortunately.’(AND THE FAKENEWSMSM)...

She said that as soon as it became clear that the NHS wasn’t going to be overwhelmed by coronavirus patients, other services should have restarted.
And the nurse went on to criticise GPs who had chosen to only do telephone and video consultations.
She said that people who will die because of measures that were initially put in place to protect the NHS will include ‘young healthy people who had treatable cancers and treatable issues’...

The University of Oxford discovered just last week that 5,000 fewer heart attack patients had attended hospital between March and May.
The report – published in April but largely overlooked until now – has added credence to the view that patients with serious illnesses unrelated to coronavirus have been neglected during the pandemic...
