It also just occurred to me that I’ve seen recent reports about discussions to sell the team, and a new owner may want the option to select the new name as a condition of the sale.
The best part of this is that the new team will have almost no merchandise sales ... but the owner of the team doesn’t care because all the teams split the sales revenue for all licensed NFL merchandise.
