Then I thought "Heck, is it possible that as much as us Freepers talk about the decline of the MSM that they still have a hold on a significant chunk of the US population? Has the American public (even older Americans) become so dumbed down that they can't think for themselves?"
I'm trying to establish whether this was a poll driven by P to scare people and have them think badly of the Trump Administration or whether we as a nation have reached the point where we've finally gone plain 'ol stupid?

The poll is complete and utter bullstuff.
It is so easy to manipulate respondents with general questions and hypotheticals that this poll can be dismissed out-of-hand.
First, I doubt the numbers.
Second, 75% of Americans can GFT.

People become very compliant when fear is generated. I don’t really know anyone who’s not pro mask. ‘If it saves one life’ has come into play.
And Biden is winning the election. Polls are useless political propaganda tools.

They’re using these statistics, bogus or not, to manipulated Trump into declaring a national mask order. The sad thing is that I think he’d do it, too.
If he does, that sticks a knife into the heart of the “recovery.” Things were opening up, people were shopping, dining out, etc. in my city until our RINO mayor declared a mask order, and now businesses are simply shutting down again. The employees don’t like having to wear them, the customers hate being subject to the mask police, and in addition there’s no point in shopping or doing anything in person because you can’t talk to or understand anybody.
I always used to chat with the Publix checkers, and so did everybody else ... now it’s like shopping in a morgue. A very unpleasant experience.
I'm keeping my powder dry, mainly for the following reason:
Americans want :
1) To be under home arrest, not allowed out of their homes
2) to be forced to wear a mask just to walk out to their mailbox
3) schools to remain closed indefinitely, kids home, public school teachers paid as if they were working
4) Big monthly stimulus checks to pay the bills
Americans are at heart totalitarians who don’t trust Americans, even themselves, to have any freedom of choice (except maybe abortion)

I’m stunned that the media hardly had to sweat to scare the living crap out of Americans. We are talking about a virus that has killed 600 thousand globally in a population of 7 billion! Mathematically a rounding error.
The decline story is no longer true. With impeachment and then the virus, even CNN saw its ratings skyrocket. And Fox News is just as bad in its COVID fear mongering and false surge stories.
Personally I don’t understand. If I want the latest on COVID I don’t read a newspaper or watch the news. I just go to worldmeter.
I don’t want to believe those numbers, but I doubt they are that far off.
I am in Phoenix. A big city, but a western, non-coastal city in a part of the country that is more liberty-minded than the northeast or mid-west.
While we have NOT been hit with “Karens” publicly, they are out in force on Nextdoor, which I dropped from, as it was pointless. Compliance is very high in most larger stores, and women are in almost 100% compliance.
I am afraid that the MSM as a whole has persuaded a large % of the population that this thing is one step removed from ebola, and that we have moved from flattening the curve to a long-term new normal.
I also suspect that our reed in the wind governor, as well as normally sound guys like DeSantis are getting at very least polling info showing that a substantial majority wants this, including a significant part of the base. Combine that with giant corporations like Walmart, who want to have a uniform, nationwide rule they can easily absorb, ESPECIALLY if the small places have to play along too.
I don’t want this to be the case, but as Kroger/Fry’s folded as of yesterday, I sense the noose tightening. After there is enough general compliance, then the citations come, as they already have in “progressive” areas. I remain maskless, go where I can, but remain visible to the general public rater than hide just doing mail order. Our church is mostly anti-maskers, but that is far from a random sample.
I laud those who split the difference, and either wear the mask around the chin once entry is gained wherever they are, or wear something that is obviously not impeding breathing God’s wonderful air, as a mocking form of faux compliance. One friend of ours was instructed she had to wear a face covering, and her husband does not want her to wear a mask. She improvised and wore her lacy church mantilla around her mouth. No problem!
3 in 4? That’s 75%. And THAT is exactly what we should expect.
1/2 the American population consists of women. Hald the men act like women. There’s your 75%, leaving only 25% of us rational males.
Most people are not anti-maskers.
