Make room, Austin. Tesla is coming to town.

The electric automaker will build a $1.1 billion assembly plant in Travis County, according to a press release from Gov. Greg Abbott.

The factory – to be built on 2,100 acres off Texas 130 and Harold Green Road in southeastern Travis County – will employ 5,000 people with wages starting at $35,000 annually.

Sucks for you, California.

People that build Car parts should be more conservative than Artists/interior decorators/etc., so it probably won’t make Austin any Bluer.

This is a great win for Texas and a big poke in the eye for California.

Only downside to the deal is the location near Austin aka the Communist Center of Texas.

On the other hand the addition of 5,000 workers could sway the politics in Travis County towards the right.

They already are in the process of moving HQ away. They’re probably going to do the same “Texas Two-Step” that Toyota and others have done.

Phoenix is a terrible location for large scale manufacturing.

Congrats to Austin. But be careful spending any city resources on this. If there was ever a giant sized scam this could be it, imho. Just be cautious with any money

Texas loves bringing in people who want to destroy America.

Less than you’d think, and those people are already here in the US anyway. Also, headcount increases Texas’ political clout, so it’s a tradeoff.

Fact still remains that Phoenix is a terrible place to do large scale manufacture due to local resources alone.

I don’t care about Phoenix. Demographics is destiny. We here in Texas seem to want to subsidize illegals going to college and bring in companies that are progressive.

Lots taxpayer funded incentives in this deal.

A big loss for Texans who pay taxes.

Probably not, Austin exists because of Music, BBQ and UT. It’s over the top leftism is because of Tech. that moved in 15-20 years ago. Tesla just piles on.

The ballot proposition to let illegals go to college for free or with a subsidy failed the last few times they tried it.

Musk got mugged by California and is moving to a more liberty-oriented mindset, if you checked out recent coverage. He’s moving Tesla here because he was told he couldn’t continue operations - a John Galt moment.
