Judge to hear Oregon request to restrain federal agents

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A federal judge will hear arguments Wednesday on Oregon’s request for a restraining order against federal agents sent to the state’s biggest city to quell protests that have spiraled into nightly clashes between authorities and demonstrators.

The lawsuit, filed by Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, alleges that federal agents sent by President Donald Trump have arrested people with no probable cause, whisked protesters away in unmarked cars and used excessive force to quell the unrest. It’s part of growing pushback against the Trump administration’s use of federal agents in Portland and its plans to do the same in other cities.

In a twist, the judge hearing the case — U.S. District Court Judge Michael Mosman — works out of the very courthouse that’s been a target for more than 50 nights of protests following the killing of George Floyd. Floyd, a Black man, died after being pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer, igniting protests against racial injustice nationwide.

Dubya judge Michael W. Mosman is the chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

It'll interesting to see whether he goes Globalist with the enemy at the gates of his courthouse.

“”” Floyd, a Black man, died after being pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer, “”””””””

Floyd, a career criminal, died after taking meth and massive doses of fentanyl even though he had serious health issues as well as the KungFlu......

There, I fixed it so the story would be more accurate.

But to the heart of the story....Good luck with that.

I have zero faith in any judge within the 9th District area of responsibility. Being a Dubya judge gives me even more pause.

The fact that Democrats are choosing looters and rioters over law abiding citizens should be a major campaign issue.

This is actually kind of getting funny, and only because nobody’s getting killed

Shop/Chaz was funny until people started getting killed

Chicago aint funny at all WWW hey jackass.com

So here’s the question for all the liberals and Democrats- do you value civil society or not?

What we have right now is that the far left is consumed with their hatred of our wonderful president Donald J Trump

This being the election year it’s all consuming for them and they are desperate absolutely desperate to try anything to try to upset the balance it somehow get him removed from office

Of course they’re just re-creating 1968 and they may know it

but essentially they’re mob young idiots out there in the streets have no idea of history because they’ve been so dumbed down

Arrests with no probable cause has to be argued in a specific case, by the individual who was arrested IMO. I think excessive force has to be alleged in specific cases as well. They can't prohibit Federal agents from arresting any and all persons based on such allegations. That's bizarre. Can these same claims be leveled against a city or state police force, and a restraining order be issued prohibiting any and all arrests by them?

I don't get what unmarked cars have to do with anything.

Yes, of course, no probable cause! Burning down a federal building is not a crime. Happens every day. I was just thinking of bombing one myself today. I’ve been couped up, need some excitement. This darn pandemic you know.

Well at least he's not an Obama/Clinton Judge so we have a shot at winning.

My predictions on any Judge ruling in a conservative manner:

Obama/Clinton Judge: 0% (fix is in)
Bush Judge: 50% (even odds)
Trump Judge: 75% (still not a sure thing, but good odds)

It is. The only question is who outnumbers who at this point.

I would think that photographic evidence of the rioter damaging federal property or assaulting federal police is probable cause.

It would be amazing if the judge issued an arrest warrant for Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum instead. One can dream.

In 2003, United States President George W. Bush nominated Mosman to serve as judge for the United States District Court for the District of Oregon on May 8 to take the seat of Robert E. Jones, who had assumed senior status on the court.

Uh oh....

He also was on the FISA court:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_W._Mosman

Wikipedia:

In 2017, Judge Mosman approved renewal of a FISA Court warrant for Carter Page, a former adviser to the 2016 Trump Campaign. In July 2018, the warrant application was released publicly, marking the first time FISA warrant application materials were made public. The heavily-redacted, 412-page application cites many sources, including confidential informants. Among those many sources, the application cites the Steele dossier, leading a legal commentator to criticize the basis of the warrant.

No judge can tell the feds to leave a State. The judiciary is not a dictatorship.

Yeah, that’s a good one. I see unmarked calls pulling over people all the time here in Minneapolis.
