Winn-Dixie, Publix, Walmart: All the U.S. Chains Requiring Masks
New York Times ^ | 7/21/20 | Gillian Friedman

Large retail chains have started requiring customers to wear masks inside all of their stores, as coronavirus cases surge across the country and politicians and public health experts clamor for widespread use of face coverings to stem the spread of the disease.

After Walmart, America’s largest retailer, announced on July 15 that it would mandate in-store mask-wearing, a flurry of other companies, including Kroger, Target and Walgreens, followed suit. This means that customers will be required to wear face masks in stores even in places without local mask ordinances. The National Retail Federation has encouraged companies to set nationwide mask policies to protect employees and shoppers.

“or order online groceries.”

You’d still be financially supporting these companies.

And like it or not, it’s easier for them to have a blanket policy than piecemeal. I don’t like it, but I don’t blame them.

I have to wear my reading glasses when shopping and masks fog them up horribly. Also, I feel like I can’t breathe when I’m wearing one. I try to do as much of my grocery shopping as possible via pickup. Nobody has told me yet that I have to wear a mask while I’m sitting in my car. That will probably happen soon.

If I chose to shop there. There are other alternatives in my area. And I have no problem, don’t like it, but understand it, with a supermarket chain making a blanket policy for their own legal protection. I can chose to wear a mask and shop, or chose not to and shop on one for pick up or delivery. I realize not everyone can.

“a supermarket chain making a blanket policy for their own legal protection.”

If that’s their reason, then I have to ask, “How stupid are they?” It takes days/weeks after exposure to get the WuFlu. The supermarkets’ lawyers believe a person can pinpoint that their exposure was on a certain day at a certain time in a certain store? That’s crazy talk.

Try egononcuratosis, a rare nonexistent condition that causes shortness of breath and dizziness when wearing a face mask.

p.s. I used an online translator to come up with this.

6 feet and no mask. If you’re coughing or sneezing stay home.

***That is EXACTLY what a store manager let slip when I was grilling him about their ‘mask mandate’ yesterday.. They are scared sh*tless of being sued.***

THIS! ^^^

This requirement is all about being sued for CoVid illness.

How about 'This store does NOT require its customers or employees to wear a mask...shop at YOUR own risk.'

I'd shop there. A lot of people would. It would save a FORTUNE on COVID-compliant signage.

Our local grocery is saying that the face coverings are requested. They also say if you have a medical reason to be exempted, then that’s ok. I wore a mask under my nose (like most of their employees) so that I could check out what was going on.

Truthfully, about 1/3 of the people in there wore masks. Most of those were under the nose or under the chin. I’m not fooled. Lots of people are complying begrudgingly.

A funny thing happened to me when I went into the store. I grabbed a mask I hadn’t used in quite some time, and put that one on when I got into the store. I started itching and coughing right away and pulled the thing off. I didn’t realize that one of my cats must have sat on it, or “loved” on it recently, because it was full of cat hair. I am quite allergic to my cats and take medicine to control that. When the fur is directly on my nose and face and mouth? Well, it was quite the scene if anyone had been watching me in the produce department. I finally took that one off, and dug in my purse. There was a disposable one use mask in a baggie from early in this ordeal. So I switched them out, but I thought for sure I would be approached and asked WTH was going on. My husband died laughing when I told him about it last night.

I’m sorry that you are having to deal with realities that preclude you from protecting yourself adequately from contaminants, that you used to be able to protect yourself from.

It’s not for that, it’s probably more for the employees.

Good Idea, I’m sure that masks also prevent Legionnaires disease that is found in these places well before Wuhan virus hit us.....

The Deep State, BLM, Antifa, etc., has them by the balls. They, therefore, have us by the balls. As much as I can, I'm shopping smaller, independent retail establishments who won't play nice in the COVIS sandbox and enforce this End Times slavery.

It is what it is.

It is easy to make something makeshift that will filter large particles (as opposed to viruses), instead of the other way around, but the n95 do a better job of it, and are disposable.

I was hoping by this time the market would be flooded with good masks that could be had cheap.

Man, I hear you on that! There are so many products that I used to be able to find, and they still aren’t on the shelves yet. I keep praying for a return to normalcy pre-CoVid. I don’t know when that will happen, but I suspect Nov, 4 will be the soft opening.
