It is easy to make something makeshift that will filter large particles (as opposed to viruses), instead of the other way around, but the n95 do a better job of it, and are disposable.

Man, I hear you on that! There are so many products that I used to be able to find, and they still arent on the shelves yet. I keep praying for a return to normalcy pre-CoVid. I dont know when that will happen, but I suspect Nov, 4 will be the soft opening.
