Agreed...Not to make this a vaccine donnybrook, but it always surprises me that the people who are angriest with anti-vaxxers are...the people who have been vaccinated.

I am exactly the same way with it...I’m a 71 year old veteran and my wife is 67 years old...We wear one anytime we go indoors where there are other people...Other than that, the mask is off...

Nobody is stopping them. But for someone to suggest that a mask is a sign of ‘slavery and submission’ is preposterous and unthinking.
Elder and health-compromised people - and there are LOTS of them right here on this site - have been receiving all sorts of mixed signals from their own government and from vaunted health ‘officials’.
They don’t know what to think, and there isn’t much that they can do - but a mask may help them to feel somewhat protected - and it actually MAY protect them and others to some degree, however small.
It doesn’t make any sense to try and make them feel like fools, when they are doing the best that they can with what they know.
If one has a problem with mask-wearing, they should post thoughtful science, and leave out incendiary words like ‘slavery’ and ‘submission’. It would go a lot farther.

Today Trump said wearing masks is a sign of patriotism. That's not what he said. Posers like you are sure easy to ID.

Well, you are one elderly person, and I respect your decision and position. There are many who feel otherwise.
I just have a problem with the condescension, and thoughtlessness toward other human beings and the way that they may think and feel, that is suggested by the title of the thread.

.where I am, you get the g----- stink eye if you dont wear the mask in the parking lot
Where are you? I am in Phoenix, and I have not gotten the stink eye at all as far as I can tell. Though I don't tend to look at people looking at me. I have been told by doormen and hostesses that my patronage is not welcome if I won't wear a mask. So far I have been able to take my business elsewhere, though the noose does seem to be tightening slowly.
Again as far as the stink eye, those who buy in are allowed to give me the stink eye. I sometimes got it for wearing a Dodgers cap, finding out later that made people think I was from L.A., and many in Phoenix believe that ex-Angelenos are wrecking the city.

You’re probably right. Condescension and thoughtlessness toward the intelligence of the many elderly you know and the way they think and feel is certainly important.

Look, millions of Americans are terrified out of their minds, the news keeps freaking them out, if I go into the store without a mask its like coming up behind an old lady fearing shell be assaulted and yelling BOO!! Freedom of speech may protect my right to say Boo, but its still a dumb thing to do.

I copied and pasted his words from an earlier thread.

Then the elderly, and people with serious health conditions and immune issues can wear masks, isolate themselves or whatever they choose.
I will not be kowtowed into complying.
Covid 19 will disappear like the morning mist about two days after the elections.
