Masks don’t make a difference. Remember that? It was about two months ago. The consensus of scientific experts who must be obeyed unless one is a Trump-loving troglodyte assured us that there was no need to don a silly mask. Today, masks are the Holy Grail of stopping the virus. How did that happen? What do we know in July that we didn’t know in May? Why did other countries seem to know the supposed value of masks while we didn’t?
I’ll give you another one. On February 29, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Lord High Guru Of All Science, went on the “Today Show” and told Americans the virus was “low risk” and that we should not modify our behavior. Two weeks later we shut down the country and invited the most devastating economic collapse in generations. Again, how did that happen?

Some of it is the fog of war. I said when this started it will be years until we analyze all the data and figure out the statistics/characteristics on this virus. Despite the derision I got for saying that Instill stand by it. Books will be written a decade from now on the virus, it’s spread, and the way it was handled
The other part of it is clearly political. Every congress critter and petty tyrant in state and local government is trying to leverage the situation to their best advantage. It’s disgusting

He is a government employee. As such, he is been immersed in the civil servant mindset for four decades.
Honestly, do you (or anyone else think) that any doctor worth his salt would be working for the government for that long? You don’t think there are better virologists working in the private sector?
Think of any profession (other than the military) where “the best” go to work for the government.
I have relatives who work in medical research. In the past they worked at places like USAMRID. Trust me, the people who have passed ‘through’ those places and into bigger and better worlds think about the Faucci’s of the world as we do about the people who work at the RMV.
I wish the people on FR would open their eyes to the fact that the government F’s just about everything up. Their people are not great. Their hardware and software for this stuff is not cutting edge. They are not regarded as “best in class” in their respective specialties.
The government should have reached out to the pharmaceutical companies and pulled their stars out to come work during this crisis—just as we did in WWII. But even here on FR, there is a communist outlook about “big Pharma.”

In the hyper-politicized environment we find ourselves these days, we must remember that the Rats and the Deep State-Globalists own the opinions of science. The left routinely taps politically-driven science to mold public opinion to support their political needs.
I was supposed to die in the early 1980s from eating apples laced with the pesticide Alar. Banning tobacco commercials was supposed to rid us of lung cancer. Global warming was supposed to have killed me at least a dozen times. Now COVID-19 is the most dangerous virus since the bubonic plague . . . my God how did I survive Ebola?????
When you hear all this garbage from your government, just remember they are trying to manipulate your opinions. . . we need to focus on their motives for that influence. Much like "follow the money", which often times results from gaining power, we need to understand WHY they are trying to steal our support with a pack of lies. THAT is what our politicians and news media have collaborated on to create this unending diet of misinformation.
I agree about the fog of war and I would add to that that a lot of what we “knew” early on was based on the lies coming out of China. Then it hit Italy and a big bucket of reality hit us hard. We were trending about two weeks behind Italy in terms of hospitalizations and deaths rising and we watched in horror as people in Italy were dying in the hallways of packed hospitals.
The contrast of what China claimed versus what we witnesses in Italy was both terrifying and confusing. Hopefully the books written on this whole thing will properly eviscerate the lying Chinese communists for their role in keeping everyone blind to the threat until it was already killing people. They could have warned the world and they should have done so. They decided instead to continue their usual tactic of lying to everyone for their own advantage. We should NOT be doing business with those liars.
Because for a lot of them, their funding depends on there being a problem that only long and expensive research can solve. When these problems don’t exist, they manufacture them.
I’m a Ph.D. scientist, and I know that scientists are often mistaken. But then they continue to do their research, learn by their mistakes, and get closer to the truth!
Scientists are not often in a policy position. When they are, their mistakes can sometimes have very bad consequences!
And scientists are human, and thus have political opinions. Given what universities are these days, they are most often liberal to leftist opinions. If they act on these opinions, saying that they are scientists, they are misusing their authority!!!!
