MARIPOSA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE A woman who orchestrated a cancer scam that victimized dozens of Central California families is in custody after six years.
Kellie Walker, now 28, began faking back in 2014 that she had stage two ovarian cancer, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.
Friends and family of Walker set up a bank account at a local bank branch, and a fundraising dinner was held in order to help Walker and her family deal with the tragic diagnosis and associated medical expenses. It’s believed that more than 200 guests attended the dinner

The doctors must have lied to her about taking out her reproductive organs. Adding fake surgery to fake cancer.
This is not uncommon; I’ve heard similar stories more than once.
At a large corporation I once was employed at, there was a female employee who had a daughter who had juvenile diabetes. Every time she wanted to redecorate her home or update her wardrobe, she dragged out the child’s illness. It worked like a charm. A hat was passed for her and she would come in with very expensive new clothing. I’ve observed that those who can least afford to donate to others due to having their own financial woes are the individuals who give the most to these scammers.
