A Massachusetts restaurant is repealing its “racist” dress code, with the owner apologizing to protesters for not realizing the impact of his policy, according to reports.
About 100 demonstrators gathered outside Nathan Bill’s Bar and Restaurant in Springfield to protest a policy that prohibited baggy blue jeans, long white T-shirts, do-rags and baseball caps worn backwards.
A picture of the dress code spread across social media, with many criticizing the policy as directed at African Americans.
Restaurant owner Robert Grossman met with the Pioneer Valley Project, the city’s NAACP chapter and City Councilor Tim Allen and agreed to end the policy, Masslive reported.

I’d be for keeping the ban on baseball caps worn backwards. I see more white men in their 30s and 40s wearing their caps backwards than black men. Looks stupid. Always has - and even more so now as these aging guys think it makes them look cool.
This is dumb. I see a lot of white guys wearing this kind of stuff. It’s not limited to any particular race/ethnic group.
How about ‘no gang related or prison’ attire? Not good enough?

Hey, he owns the place so he can do as he pleases. The public will determine if he has made the right choice.
I hate to deliver the bad news to the restaurant owner, but making black folks pay for their meals is _very_ racist.
I am sure his customers will be happy to educate him on that point.
