President Donald Trumps drift towards an endorsement of DACA and pro-immigration policies threatens his reelection campaign, says Steven Levy, the former top executive leader of Suffolk County in New York.
It is not worth abandoning your base over your this, Levy said in an interview with Breitbart News. Youre not going to get many votes out of this, he added.
How do you justify importing more workers when a good portion of your workers are sitting at home? asked Levy, who was twice elected as chief executive of New Yorks Suffolk County, with 1.5 million residents. It is absurd [and] if we dont push back, hell do it.
It isnt to say were not grateful for him being the best fighter on the federal level on illegals, but he cant give up now when he has come so far, said Levy, who won 96 percent of the Long Island districts vote for his 2008 to 2012 term.

We already paid for their education.
No conflict here. Read the proposal. Any incoming H1-Bs have to meet conditions. They are not cheap labor replacements.
Trump supporters should look at only WHAT IS ACTUALLY DONE. Nothing yet...it is all talk at this point. And always consider modifications to DACA compared to what Mental Joe, et al, are proposing. My God! There is no comparison.
Which one can the nation manage? Wide open borders? FULL AMNESTY AND WELFARE? FREE EVERYTHING FOR ILLEGALS?
Or a heavily cut back DACA in some form with management?
I know what my choice is, regardless...FOR AMERICA’S FUTURE.
How do you know his DACA initiative will be a bad initiative. Trump knows what he is doing and we need to be all on board. Single issues need to wait until after the election.
“warnings are echoed by lobbyists, staffers, and activists “
quintessential fake news: article references exactly ONE anonymous “staffer”, ONE anonymous “lobbyist”, and ONE anonymous “activist” (whatever that is) ... most like the references are simply manufactured ...
Trump is not going to do anything about DACA. Bet on it.
IMO, Trump is fundamentally an open borders kind of guy. His abrasiveness meant an inability to appeal to core portions of the middle, so he had to revert to fulfilling his campaign promises on immigration to please his voter base on the right. This is why he started the wall so late and kept delaying any action on DACA.
As one Freeper noted, Trump keeps deliberately doing things in such a way that his efforts will be struck down by the courts - [Quote: the court relied on the fact that Trump did not actually rescind DACA with an Executive Order. He had one of the agencies do it thru rule-making”]. Im sure Trump thinks his deliberate sabotage of the base’s objectives/buck-passing while disingenuously signaling his support for those objectives is very clever. Problem is that many voters dont really care about his weasel words. They want DACA gone. He can point to the courts doing an end run around his buck-passing, but the reality is that the buck stops at his desk. He needs to stop tweeting and start doing. Instead, he just talked about an executive order to formalize DACA.
There is a certain home team type allegiance to Trump on Free Republic. Thing is, this is a very narrow slice of the electorate. A good chunk of it - the chunk that decides elections - just wants to see results on things like DACA. And by results, they dont mean amnesty.
The ESL students have already siphoned off a ton of our school resources, they have cost poor school districts dearly and tanked their scores further, and all at the behest of the SOBs in gated communities whose kids are far away from all of the terrible price paid by the poorest communities. The very last thing we need is for the DACA kids to be left in legal limbo, so that they are forced to stay on the good side of the globalists. They should stay or they should go. It seems likely that isnt a choice that is going to happen though. The real choice is pathway to citizenship or more legal limbo. You know Im right. Id rather end the hostage situation, and build the wall. What do you think?
i agree that more immigration will be very harmful to the PDJT campaign.
in case he hasn’t noticed it, USA is in a deep recession (created by the virus scare lockdowns by the state governors)
most Americans want to work, not keep collecting welfare benefits from the government
we want our jobs back! we do not want more d*** immigrants flooding in here, especially not the ones imported deliberately by the “American” corporations to take our jobs away form us! (H1b program must end!!!)
Steve Levy is just that. A fake Trump supporter. He is typical of what calls itself Republicans in the NYC area.
Maybe this all comes down to gaining the Hispanic vote. Should Trump do something favorable about DACA, it could very well swing lots of Hispanic support his way. What this could mean for future elections might well be what Trump has in mind. If the Hispanic vote turns pro-GOP, it could signal a shift away from the rising tide of progressivism, and save the country.
What comes after Trump in 2024? If were only buying ourselves 4 years here, not so good. This could be Trumps plan to save the country!
the wall doesnt work if they’re on this side of it already
“Jared.”
Only POTUS can make the decision.
It’s all him.
Nobody is going to vote for Joe Biden instead of Trump over this.
Id rather Trump be the guy to get the DACA kids out of the Democrat hostage situation rather than letting the Democrats continue to hold them hostage.
The whole point of this CCP Virus hoax was to condition those "Americans" who want to work into the belief that Working is for fools.
