“ That is a fundamental shift from Trump’s 2016 campaign, when he promised white-collar voters in March 2016: “I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.””

No conflict here. Read the proposal. Any incoming H1-Bs have to meet conditions. They are not cheap labor replacements.

Trump supporters should look at only WHAT IS ACTUALLY DONE. Nothing yet...it is all talk at this point. And always consider modifications to DACA compared to what Mental Joe, et al, are proposing. My God! There is no comparison.

Which one can the nation manage? Wide open borders? FULL AMNESTY AND WELFARE? FREE EVERYTHING FOR ILLEGALS?

Or a heavily cut back DACA in some form with management?

I know what my choice is, regardless...FOR AMERICA’S FUTURE.

Stop with the Trump attacks by fake Trump supporters. We have major US corporations giving billions to Marxist organizations with our country on the brink. Instead so called supporters are attacking Trump on something not even done yet.

How do you know his DACA initiative will be a bad initiative. Trump knows what he is doing and we need to be all on board. Single issues need to wait until after the election.

“warnings are echoed by lobbyists, staffers, and activists “

quintessential fake news: article references exactly ONE anonymous “staffer”, ONE anonymous “lobbyist”, and ONE anonymous “activist” (whatever that is) ... most like the references are simply manufactured ...

Trump is not going to do anything about DACA. Bet on it.

IMO, Trump is fundamentally an open borders kind of guy. His abrasiveness meant an inability to appeal to core portions of the middle, so he had to revert to fulfilling his campaign promises on immigration to please his voter base on the right. This is why he started the wall so late and kept delaying any action on DACA.

As one Freeper noted, Trump keeps deliberately doing things in such a way that his efforts will be struck down by the courts - [Quote: the court relied on the fact that Trump did not actually rescind DACA with an Executive Order. He had one of the agencies do it thru “rule-making”]. I’m sure Trump thinks his deliberate sabotage of the base’s objectives/buck-passing while disingenuously signaling his support for those objectives is very clever. Problem is that many voters don’t really care about his weasel words. They want DACA gone. He can point to the courts doing an end run around his buck-passing, but the reality is that the buck stops at his desk. He needs to stop tweeting and start doing. Instead, he just talked about an executive order to formalize DACA.

There is a certain home team type allegiance to Trump on Free Republic. Thing is, this is a very narrow slice of the electorate. A good chunk of it - the chunk that decides elections - just wants to see results on things like DACA. And by results, they don’t mean amnesty.

The ESL students have already siphoned off a ton of our school resources, they have cost poor school districts dearly and tanked their scores further, and all at the behest of the SOBs in gated communities whose kids are far away from all of the terrible price paid by the poorest communities. The very last thing we need is for the DACA kids to be left in legal limbo, so that they are forced to stay on the good side of the globalists. They should stay or they should go. It seems likely that isn’t a choice that is going to happen though. The real choice is pathway to citizenship or more legal limbo. You know I’m right. I’d rather end the hostage situation, and build the wall. What do you think?

i agree that more immigration will be very harmful to the PDJT campaign.

in case he hasn’t noticed it, USA is in a deep recession (created by the virus scare lockdowns by the state governors)

most Americans want to work, not keep collecting welfare benefits from the government

we want our jobs back! we do not want more d*** immigrants flooding in here, especially not the ones imported deliberately by the “American” corporations to take our jobs away form us! (H1b program must end!!!)

Can there be any doubt...particularly with recent SCOTUS decisions in mind...that regardless of what Trump,or Congress, might do that SCOTUS will eventually rule that they can stay? Anyone denying that irrefutable fact is delusional. And anyone who stays home on Election Day simply because of this is beyond foolish...for a million different reasons.

These people really do think that Trump supporters are stupid and docile. Its so obvious who the enemy is to the great country that is the USA and to its great constitution.

The democrats completely lost the 2020 election months ago.

GOP Activists Predict Defeat

I must say, this part of the headline is not supported by any of the article's text. Hysteria doesn't serve the cause of American jobs for Americans.

The DACA announcement was one of the most stupid decisions made by this administration.

They just made the entire election about the scale of which an amnesty is going to be done.

That isn’t going to play well in the Rust Belt.

Ok, so I have to decide whose political instinct to trust; President Trump’s, or “the former top executive leader of Suffolk County in New York.”?

Hmmm...
