Probably my all-time favorite film from the Golden Era of Hollywood. Before Hollywood became a communist propaganda machine.

That was a long and rather girly read, but really good. Refutes a lot of misconceptions about the book and film.

Except for the gratuitous use of the words “chakra” and “grokked”, that was a very good article.
And Mammy was MY favorite character too! :-)

Long read but correctly describes GWTW as a tragic love story told from a Southern woman’s viewpoint. It is not at all about slavery just that the story was set in time when slavery was a fact of life for some. In this story slavery was simply a part of the supporting background.
It never ceases to amaze me how the simpletons on the left continue to believe that history can be changed.

I recall reading somewhere that another budding actress desparatly wanted the leading actress role and the fame it would bring to her. The woman was Patty Hearst’s mother.

I have run my gamete of listening to this BLM crap. They can kiss my rip pockets. I am tired of their holier than thou ass thoughts and mouth running. They somehow think they are better than everyone else, that they have never said, done, thought, said, breathed, anything that would run afoul of other peoples beliefs or thoughts on life?????? This mob can go to hell. I am not a racist person. I judge people on how they behave and how they treat me and other people. Your nice to me, I return the nice. Treat me like crap and I can turn on my old Army persona and go loud and crappy on you!! But I am sick of hearing how bad everyone else is and they are somehow pure and clean. They are nothing but a bunch of loud-mouthed punks to me. This I will defend. My home. My family. And, my country which I took an oath to defend against ALL ENEMIES, BOTH FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC!!

All the black characters in GWTW were of better moral character than the white folks — excluding Mother and Melanie.

What an interesting and very personal take on GWTW. I too have watched the movie several times and read the book at least twice, maybe more. I remember being sprawled out on my parents’ sofa on long summer days, engrossed in the book. I can relate to her comparison with her own Slavic roots, as I feel both the ancient and recent losses deep in my bones. My own family was stripped of all but life itself and had to rebuild. I share her anger at the left’s arrogance in wanting to dictate what we may read, watch, say or think. Excellent response to the would-be censors.
