I'm scotch guy but I switched from 12 year old Johnny Walker Black to Dewars 12 year old.
Very smooth, it's almost too good because it goes down too easily.
Don't worry, polls like the quinnipac poll that was just released under sample pubbies by 10 points.
They might as well stay in Manhattan and run the poll, no way to lose {but it sure will not reflect the mood of the country}.

It's not a 'worthless saying', although I prefer the shorter Scout version: "Be prepared". Many things are out of our personal control, like earthquakes, hurricanes, war, and pestilence. Hope is good, so is preparedness.
There are even contradictory sayings that each have some validity. For instance:
"Look before you leap!"
"He who hesitates is lost!"
