The governor of Missouri says President Trump has promised to "do everything he could within his powers" to shield a St. Louis couple who wielded guns at protesters in their gated community from prosecution, even as an attorney for the client says charges are imminent.
Gov. Mike Parson said he spoke to Trump Tuesday and was reassured that the president-- who previously has retweeted a photo of the couple, Mark and Patricia McCloskey holding up guns in front of their house in the June 28 incident--"understands the situation in Missouri."
"He understands the situation in St. Louis and how out of control it is for a prosecutor to let violent criminals off and not do their job and try to attack law-abiding citizens," Parson said at a press conference.
"The conversation I had with the President, said that he would do everything he could within his powers to help with this situation," Parson added.
Parson and Trump's conversation comes days after police served a search warrant at the McCloskey's home in the upscale Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, in the same area where the city's Democratic mayor, Lyda Krewson, lives.
Nearly 500 protesters marching for racial equality and against police brutality were headed towards Krewson's residence during the June 28 incident, after she read off the names and addresses of individuals petitioning to defund the police. Mark and Patricia McCloskey came out of their house, brandished their guns, and demanded the protesters leave because they were trespassing. The couple later told Fox News' Sean Hannity that they were fearful that the protesters would "kill us" and "burn down the house."

NOT UNDER THREAT????
I would hate to see what she considers ‘under threat’.
This couple live in a GATED COMMUNITY-—which means hat those streets & sidewalks are NOT public property.
Gates were broken by mob to gain entrance.
Where does the private property of this couple start?
I have my entire acreage perimeter fenced-—time consuming & costly. IF anyone is indie that perimeter without MY permission-—They are invading my PRIVATE PROPERTY.
I paid for this land . I pay the taxes on this land.
Time for clarification of gated community stance to be defined. They are all over the USA.
it’s not a gated community. It’s like your land. They have fence and walls and a gate. The sidewalk is out side the fence. The mob broke the gate down.
The gate that was forced open & damaged was to the entire gated community. Not a gate only to their property.
The mob was totally trespassing, no doubt about it.
Destroyed the gate. That’s probably community owned as well. Not a lawyer, but my guess the prosecutor will draw a distinction. Personally, they were obviously threatened. I think it will be tough for a jury to disagree. The wife’s pointing her weapon is probably a problem, the husband too if he did it. I’ve always been taught to only draw my weapon if I’m ready to pull the trigger. A mob like this is a different situation, displaying a weapon could be a clear deterrent. Left slung or in it’s holster. However pointing or brandishing it, you’re putting yourself in the prosecutor’s hands.
Isn’t that the responsibility of the Governor first? He took an oath to uphold the State Laws, and the U.S. Constitution? If he fails, then the President should step in. But the Governor is the first line in this chain-of-command.
Probably collectively owned or perhaps an easement which is different than their home. Just as being outside their home may be different than inside. Depends on the state but my guess is someone inside your perimeter is trespassing not invading. I'm on a "private" road, in a rural not gated community and the police consider trespass on the road quite different than trespass on my non road property. They consider trespass in the absence of another crime a civil matter, but won't even respond to trespass on the road. I've no specific idea what the laws of MO and St. Louis say on these matters.
Who took the video? Did I miss that somewhere?
OK...Thanks...
It was said theyre liberal democrats.
It is a private gated community. Each property has a private easement on which Portland Place was built and provides access for all the homeowners.
