Top Trump aide Peter Navarro slammed for going ‘rogue’ with attack on Dr. Fauci

Fauci did not immediately respond publicly to the remarkable attack. The revered public health expert is viewed by the public as the most trusted figure in the fight against coronavirus.

It’s coronavirus chaos at the White House.

The Trump administration erupted in open not-so-civil war Wednesday as a top aide to President Trump was accused by White House officials of “going rogue” with an unauthorized opinion piece slamming Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Peter Navarro, a top presidential economic adviser and close Trump ally, came under withering friendly fire for his shocking USA Today piece late Tuesday in which he slammed the nation’s foremost pandemic expert as an error-prone quack.

“Navarro went rogue,” a senior White House official told ABC News. “The White House does not stand by these unauthorized opinions and Mr. Navarro owes Dr. Fauci an apology.”

White House spokeswoman Alyssa Farah joined the circular firing squad when she claimed that the opinion piece does not reflect Trump’s opinions and “is the opinion of Peter alone.”

Navarro attacked Fauci for failing to back Trump’s China travel banand for changing his guidance on the use of face masks.

“He has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on,” Navarro wrote. “When you ask me whether I listen to Dr. Fauci’s advice, my answer is: only with skepticism and caution.”

Navarro, an economist without health background or expertise, also blasted Fauci for throwing cold water on Trump’s controversial push for hydroxychloroquine, which most studies have found to have limited if any usefulness fighting COVID-19.

Fauci did not immediately respond publicly to the remarkable attack. The revered public health expert is viewed by the public as the most trusted figure in the fight against coronavirus, which has killed 135,000 people and counting and plunged the nation into a deep economic crisis.

So, backing up the president is “going rogue”?

That’s rich.

Navarro speaks for Navarro, but he has a good feel for what Trump wants to hear.

Translation: Navarro is right. Dr. Fallacy is wrong as hell, again, and doesn’t like being called out.

...

He’s the nation’s foremost error-prone quack, and corrupt operative for the Democrats.

Just for the record, I don’t consider Fauci revered or trusted. He is a Hillary fan boy so he has zero credibility with me.

This should not surprise anyone. Reports have been circulating for months about friction between Fauci and Navarro in the task force meetings.

This is awesome. It’s the perfect strategy for undermining Fauci.

Yup. Trump can call him a quack without actually calling him a quack. Gee, I didn’t actually say that, Tony, it was Peter and Chuck Woolery.

For the first time in his life Fauci is learning that thrusting yourself into the public spotlight comes with a downside.

And another thing, there should be a mandatory retirement age of (let’s just say 75) for government bureaucrats. Fauci is 80 years old.

And who is this unnamed senior WH advisor saying that Navarro’s comments were not authorized and saying he owes Fauci an apology? And to say that Fauci is revered and most trusted? By Leftists in their bubble. Fauci needs to be shut up and his constant attacks on the American recovery stopped.

trump has articulated everything that Navarro has said. When the time was right, he unleashed Peter to tell the world what he, PDJT, thinks about Dr. Faucci. There is nothing accidental here. This is a tiny piece in a well-conceived plan. Trump is well aware of the skepticism that the American public has with the “experts” at CDC and in the various State governor's mansions. He sees the unrest and pours a bucket of gasoline on it and tosses a lit match into it. Today, that lit match is Peter Navarro. Tomorrow, it will be someone else.

Fauci is an 80 year old Washington Bureaucrat. He has been in his D.C. Admin job for 35 years and hasn’t practiced Medicine during that time. It is time for him to retire.
