Walmart and Sam's Club shoppers will be required to wear face masks to prevent coronavirus spread in all stores starting July 20, the company announced Wednesday.
"Currently about 65 percent of our more than 5,000 stores and clubs are located in areas where there is some form of government mandate on face coverings. To help bring consistency across stores and clubs, we will require all shoppers to wear a face covering," the retail giant said in a blog post.

“Thats because they dont want to get their patients infected.”
So you are saying masks are effective at stopping infection from spreading.
“So you are saying masks are effective at stopping infection from spreading.”
Only in Taiwan and other countries where they are worn.
The country is replete with frightened sheep and weak snowflakes. Pathetic.
Just shop somewhere else. It is called the free market and it includes you.
Dont take your nostrils into Walmart. Try Target.....oh wait.
LOL
The key here is that there may be exemptions where you are.
Find your state’s “mandate rule” (if any), download, print, read it and carry a copy with you.
I had a copy in my back pocket the first week of July here and never needed it. In fact, one store on the first day of the mandate I had an employee challenge me with “we’re enforcing the wearing of masks” and there happened to be the store manager 3 feet away. I had walked by after stating “I have a medical condition” and I saw from my peripheral that she began to turn and follow me, but the manager placed his hand on her shoulder, stopped her and said clearly, “That’s all he needs to say.”
If you have no mandate, you’re rolling the dice. The best outcome is that you are asked to leave (I believe in all 57 states refusal to leave constitutes trespass, fyi; look it up to be sure). But these guidelines apply nonetheless, mandate, “Karen” or otherwise:

I wonder if anyone has tried wearing a see-through shield instead of a mask. Don’t the phony dictates say “face covering” or something similar?
“it makes other people feel comfortable around you.”
Pretty sure it’s not my job to make other people feel comfortable.
Just checked my store. It doesn’t offer pick up or delivery after just changing the one end of the store a few months ago for that reason.
And what I would most likely want to order isn’t available to be shipped either.
“When you go to Walmart do you worry about being seen by somebody from church?”
I cover my wine bottles with vegetables.
Yah, just curious:
If surgical masks are so ineffective that all others are required to “mask up” to protect others...
...then how the hell is it possible to operate on a person without transmitting all manner of nastiness?
I’m literally ready to follow home the next person who uses the irrational retort about “seatbelts” (and, as Trump outlined, “get even”).
How long are you sitting in your car for curbside delivery? If it’s like the in-store online pickup it’s got to be a joke (I’ve waited at online pickup for 30 minutes before finding a worker to arrive) considering there are cars probably in a line of 20 in front of the store blocking the entrance. You know they aren’t about efficiency or speed so I’m guessing you are idling in your car for 30 minutes + at a minimum.
This is a good point and my question is why they say the mask isn’t to keep you from getting infected it’s to keep others from getting infected from YOU. How does this work, the bandana or paper mask won’t stop the virus from passing through if you are sick and the person that breathes your air will still get infected if they are wearing an equally inadequate mask anything short of N95.
Depends on the day/time. Saturday morning is going to take longer because that’s when everyone else wants their groceries.
we tend to pick up ‘off time’. Tuesday morning at 9am. Wednesday night at 8pm. etc.
Usually 4pm-7pm is more crowded as that’s when people get off from work and go do the pickup.
End of the month/payday is also more crowded.
If you want to avoid things being out, avoid picking up after about 11am on saturday morning. Or during/after other busy periods.
Our BEST picks for timeliness are weekday mornings between 9am and 10am. They’ve had time to pick your order so you don’t wait (don’t put in 150 item orders for early morning pickup as a rule), things are still ‘in stock’ if they’ve restocked, and there isn’t a line of cars waiting when you get there.
YMMV of course.
We use this because it saves us a LOT of time and wear and tear walking on those concrete floors for acres.
The longest we’ve had to wait is about 20 minutes. That was a mistake WE made by picking saturday morning 11am for pickup. We didn’t do that again LOL. Hubby surfed twitter on his ipad, so no big deal for him.
“If surgical masks are so ineffective that all others are required to mask up to protect others...then how the hell is it possible to operate on a person without transmitting all manner of nastiness?”
They are much more effective when everyone wears them, cuts way back on the viral load (probably by 95%, as a guess, low enough to make the virus very hard to spread); if only one person person wears one to protect themselves, it’s better than nothing for that person (maybe 80%, as a guess). That’s why Taiwan can dump several dozen infected people into the their country, as they did in May, yet NO ONE else get infected...they all wore masks, including the sick people who just arrived.
As to the seat belt analogy, not me. But actually, I always wore seat belts before they were required, and I’m convinced that sitting in my car fully strapped got me out of a half a dozen speeding tickets. As to others, I had family in California when they mandated motorcycle helmets. They thought it was a great idea since it would lower everyone’s car insurance. I asked them 2 years later how much their insurance went down...they were pissed.
There is no law that says you have to be polite. Its just something we do to keep from fighting with others. We really arent as civilized as we would like to think. I guess Im just getting old. I still take showers, hold doors, make eye contact, and say good morning.
Im old enough so I dont give a crap what others think about me, and wise enough not to annoy others when I dont have to. I also carry a concealed firearm. As an angry young man, I would have refused to wear a mask. As an older and possibly wiser man, I choose my battles more carefully.
You must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me. (Elwood P. Dowd)
