Yah, just curious:

If surgical masks are so ineffective that all others are required to “mask up” to protect others...

...then how the hell is it possible to operate on a person without transmitting all manner of nastiness?

I’m literally ready to follow home the next person who uses the irrational retort about “seatbelts” (and, as Trump outlined, “get even”).

They are much more effective when everyone wears them, cuts way back on the viral load (probably by 95%, as a guess, low enough to make the virus very hard to spread); if only one person person wears one to protect themselves, it’s better than nothing for that person (maybe 80%, as a guess). That’s why Taiwan can dump several dozen infected people into the their country, as they did in May, yet NO ONE else get infected...they all wore masks, including the sick people who just arrived.

As to the seat belt analogy, not me. But actually, I always wore seat belts before they were required, and I’m convinced that sitting in my car fully strapped got me out of a half a dozen speeding tickets. As to others, I had family in California when they mandated motorcycle helmets. They thought it was a great idea since it would lower everyone’s car insurance. I asked them 2 years later how much their insurance went down...they were pissed.
