Govt fast track. A woman minority is pure gold. Especially if she’s a lesbian. Instant promotion and no competence required. Ain’t it grand?

It was right to fire such an idiot. When she saw her niece’s tweet (or Instagram or whatever) the normal thing would have been to tell the niece to take it down, saying “Do you realize the flak I’ll take if my co-workers find out my niece posted violent anti-cop crap?”. Instead, the idiot proudly retweets it. Too dumb to keep around, IMO.

One year recruit becomes a detective?

This is absolute proof most of these cities are run by extremely corrupt people who have zero ethics and double standards rule the day.

Fuentes was already on probation and the social media post marked her ‘second issue’ during her time with the department.

This is what happens when you have the pay for a cop to be so low. Same with teachers. You get what you pay for. These defund police cities are only will only make things worse. They just don’t realize it yet. Or care.

Disciplinary action seems appropriate, but not firing.

I disagree, if she what that stupid as a probationary office she would be 10X worse as a fill fledged officer. I would not want her anywhere near a case involving me.

Well I have have to say since she already had one strike against her during her probation period this act was stunningly stupid!

That is what I was thinking a probationary officer getting a detective slot in a high profile unit.

Unheard of in most departments.

Maybe she would not put out for the commissioner.

Average salary for a police officer in Springfield, MA is $59,164.

That is salary. Figure benefits at about 70% of that, in addition.

discounting her from enlisting just as she prepared for basic training.

Whutt?

They're saying the chick got cheaper? Not a nice thing to say.

Is this a liberal news source with liberal literacy?

I noticed that as well. Not even off probation and becomes a detective. If she showed promise as a Detective I could see some taiko with senior Detectives on occasion but not full fledge.
