A federal judge on Monday ordered the government to explain the scope of President Trumps commutation of longtime GOP operative Roger Stone, including whether the move only involved the sentence of incarceration, or also the period of supervised release.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered the government to provide the court by Tuesday, July 14, a copy of the Executive Order commuting the defendants sentence and to address the question of the scope of the commutation, in particular, whether it involves the sentence of incarceration alone or also the period of supervised release.
In February, Jackson sentenced Stone to 40 months in prison, along with 24 months of supervised release and a $20,000 fine.
The filing, signed by Jackson, comes after the White House announced Friday that the president signed an Executive Grant of Clemency commuting what they called the unjust sentence of Stone, just days before the longtime political operative was slated to report to prison to serve more than three years for charges stemming from former Special Counsel Robert Muellers investigation.
Stone was set to report to prison on July 14 to serve 40 months. He was sentenced in February to more than three years in prison after being convicted in November 2019 on seven counts of obstruction, witness tampering and making false statements to Congress. Stone, however, has appealed his conviction and continues to deny any wrongdoing.

Its settled in the sense that commutation may, but isnt required, to include parole, supervised release, fines, assessments, etc. There may need to be more paperwork on the secondary issues.
But doesnt really seem to be the judges business.
Gee.. I wonder why? /s
Don't underestimate true evil.
What on earth are we talking about again?
Dear Judge Berman,
So as to help you avoid you all the work of drafting the most intrusive restrictions on Mr. Stone’s life I’ve decided to give Mr. Stone a complete pardon for any criminal acts he may or may not have committed since the day of his birth.
Hope this helps.

PS: I’ve also asked the judiciary committee to investigate possible grounds for your impeachment for not ordering a mistrial in light of the jury foreperson’s obvious political bias, lies and brow-beating her fellow jurors to reach a conviction.
Of course this information would be passed along to the House after we re-take control of the House. Justice delayed is justice denied.
;-)
It is my understanding that a pardon IS absolute and total. In other words, the crime never existed. However, a commutation has some variability. A President could commute a 10 Year sentance down to 5 years for example. So there is some variability in what the President could do with regards to the commutation.
Yes, I keep tripping up because some people like Senator Graham keep saying he is “in his 70s”.
The President has released the commutation order. It appears that in the order the commutation is very specific.
No prison
No supervised release
No fine
Since I did not have the order, I was willing to allow for some “reasonable” clarification. However, in reading the order, I find it hard to imagine what would still need to be clarified.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson is a complete moron. She is another Barack Obama stooge or can’t you tell? She knows full well that the intent is complete exoneration of the charges. She is just playing games. She is a typical democrat.
