Fifty-five-plus books on the table and more on the way. Charter Schools and Their Enemies, another bestseller, is hot off the press. The Thomas Sowell corpus stands as one of the rare and most impressive monuments of massive and meticulous research ever erected on this earth by one person. He came up from 1930s poverty-stricken Jim Crow North Carolina, a high school dropout, a stint with the United States Marine Corps, scraping and clawing his way through the streets of post-Renaissance Harlem and then the halls of Harvard, Columbia, and the University of Chicago (Ph.D.), and now he has four decades behind him at Stanford's Hoover Institution.
One summer working a government job accomplished what multiple semesters under Nobel Prizewinning conservative economist Milton Friedman could not it separated Sowell from his Marxist views. Sowell always tests theories by real life, not the reverse. And what a fruitful separation it has been.
Sowell's books sell, and he boasts a global following, but the left works hard to keep his voice out of the mainstream and out of higher education. The pampered socialist and pre-Marxist products pumped out of our colleges and universities into the other culture-shaping institutions of America are proof enough of that.
But a smitten stream of conservatives couldn't resist Sowell when he burst onto the national scene. There he was in 1981, poised and confident at 51, seated opposite William F. Buckley on PBS's Firing Line. But how much of Sowell's unmatched wisdom has really been examined and put to fruitful use across the decades? Not nearly enough.

Nothing personal because I don’t know you, but your use of the word “Traitor” in the way you use it has all the meaning of the word “Racist” the way the Left uses it.
Which, like “Racist”, means very little when it comes from them.
I think you can have a strong disagreement with someone like Thomas Sowell on a subject like this, but calling a man like him a “Traitor” doesn’t help the cause you are trying to advance.
Levin “changed his spots” long ago. People are allowed to see the light and change their minds.
Unless I already knew that Sowell was 90 years old, I would have put him as being in his 70’s based on his cognitive skills in last nights interview with Mark Levin.
Thomas Sowell has more intellectual power at age 90 than Joe Biden had at age 40.
Sowell would be an honored guest in my home were he ever to want to visit.
Dorkbama, on the other hand.............
Globalism, offshoring and the import tariff free world of the US economy is dead, and soon so to will the be the good Dr.
The man’s a genius. He wrote a column (which I cannot find) titled “VISIGOTHS IN TWEED”. Probably 30 years ago or so. He correctly foresaw the tyranny of political correctness.
If you crawled out from under your rock, stood up and looked around, you would see how foolish you posts are
Thomas Sowell is a national treasure and a perfect example of brilliance to which any and all should aspire.
Yes. He will be dead soon.
As will you.
As will I.
I wish that I could accomplish a fraction of what that man has done in his 90 years, going toe to toe fearlessly, publicly, with the facts on his side with all the people on the Left who are my enemies, and the enemy of this Republic.
Me, well, like many here, I talk a lot on the keyboard. I have made my forays against our foes in real time on the street, toe to toe across a barricade with them (and sometimes with no barricade) but I am not good at it. I just get angry.
But Thomas Sowell fought them tooth and nail, unashamedly and confidently, with words, accepting the scorn and derision, being labeled a house slave, an Uncle Tom, etc. But he fought the fight.
If only we could fight the way he is and has...and do more of it. He has done and is doing his part.
More than you and I can say with our keyboards.
Right on!!!
Sowell is a brilliant man. You however
gosh-dern foreigners!
After we raised tariffs on them with Smoot-Hawley, they went reciprocal and raised tariffs on us. We were only trying to protect manufacturing from imports, and the foreigners - by going reciprocal - caused a reduction of our exports (mostly agricultural goods) and thereby caused a dust bowl. Turned what might have been a recession into a depression. Nothing like it ever before or ever since.
Oh BS. Smoot Hawley was an insignificant act that only effected 1.5% of GDP. As such, it was impossible for it to have the massive effect you Free Traitors claim it had. Smoot Hawley is there nothing we can’t blame on it?
All Free Traitors suck. Even the articulate ones.
Really? Standing up to globalists is foolish? This would seem foolish to a true Free Traitor .
“Us” have been listening to Sowell, for years. Too many of “them” have not been listening.
The sheeple among “them” have not understood that their elites keep Sowell off most of the national news venues most of the time. Just mention “Thomas Sowell” to most sheeple and they have no idea who he is. For the Left, the media has done its job.
You idiot moron!!! While Levin wasn’t originally for Donald Trump he has changed his mind and voted for him . He supports him more than you probably ever did. By the way I did not vote for him in our 2016 Tennessee Primary but sure did in 2016 general election and will vote for him again on November 3rd
I never noticed before...is that your trademarked phrase?
I sure hope so, otherwise you’re going to have a lot of royalties to pay!
Big time moron
