To almost no one's surprise, days before Roger Stone's prison sentence was about to begin, President Donald Trump has spared his long-time political crony from the pen late Friday, Mr. Trump commuted Stone's sentence. It is time for New York prosecutors to answer this latest assault by Trump on the rule of law: They should ready a state prosecution of Stone.
Bringing a new case against Stone is possible thanks to Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York Legislature for Assembly Bill 6653. Signed into law last October, AB6653 enables New York district attorneys to prosecute what effectively amounts to certain friends and family of any president who pardoned them for federal convictions. Among the people who can be prosecuted are associates with information relevant to a civil or criminal investigation of the president.

The Federal courts would overturn this law.
Agree 100%
No. Stone was convicted on federal charges. They're talking about trying Stone for state witness tampering charges. Different law, different crime, double jeopardy doesn't exist.
retromingent vigilante
Slick Willie pardoned husband of a campaign donor, too.
We can’t have starving attorneys.
double jeopardy
He had better move to a Red State fast..

Roger Stone’s home is in Florida.
The next step, if NY is stupid enough to push this, is for Florida to cut off extradition with NY. This will be one more brick in the wall of an eventual Civil War 2, brought about by the overreach of marxist democrats.
I am sure they will since NY is a totalitarian state.
Thank you - I had forgotten that little “inconvenient truth” too!
If only the cowardly GOP would stand up like the RATs.

Its a good think they let all the murderers and rapists out of prison so theres room for the evil Roger Stone.
This further demonstrates that the so called journalist Gerald B. Lefcourt and Robert C. Gottlieb at CNN are consumed with hatred.
Because the state used to waive prosecution for people convicted on similar federal charges. This law changed that. And no, it's not a ex post facto law. Witness tampering has always been illegal.
Almost certainly. They should call it the "Stone Law" because that's who it's targeting.
The below paragraph demonstrates another attack by arrogant New York state with its laws giving it a legal writ beyond its borders and/or to insert itself into legal matters that some federal agencies with offices in New York have jurisdiction over (like the Sec and banking regulators).

Let’s
1. Remove “Wall Street” (all the “exchanges”) from New York. Move them to Dallas. Temporarily “nationalize” all U.S. banks with headquarters in New York, only for the period of replacing their boards and moving them out of New York City, and not all to the same city, and moving their brokerage subsidiaries to Dallas.
2. Move all Federal District courts out of New York City.
Let NYC try to survive without government legal business, top banks and wall street. NYC is not even a top ocean freight transport hub anymore. On the east coast that has gone to Newark & Bayonne in New Jersey, Savannah Georgia, The Port of Virginia (Nortfolk/Portsmouth), and Charleston, South Carolina.
If I were “dictator”. LOL
I’d prefer they prosecute Cuomo for murdering all the nursing home folks.
