They are protesting the lockdowns, which have been especially ridiculous in that germaphobe nation.
We all of us, in any city anywhere in the world, should be doing this.
The Hasidim in NYC haven’t burned trash cans yet but maybe that’s what they need to do, because de Blasio has seriously cracked down on Orthodox Jews and while he doesn’t give a darn about white radical and black rioters, he can sure send the cops after a Jewish funeral or wedding.
Btw, I know there are problems with the Ultra orthodox in Israel, but sometimes I think they have a message.
Once someone starts destroying property he or she is no longer a protester.
Let these people go. They are Not Gefilte of any crime here.

It seems as though...Israelis are used to being in a form of lockdown one way or the other as a primary mode of existence...(due to all the Gaza Strip/West Bank security issues among other things.) So I could see how they could be tiring of this Covid layer on top of all that!

Almost everyone’s getting very VERY tired of all this political Virus lockdown BS. I’ve witnessed over a dozen violent confrontations about it ( fortunately I’ve managed to avoid getting dragged in but it’s not always easy). Imho, the lockdown and masking orders have run their course and must be dropped now before society explodes
We are all tired of a lot of stuff, but that doesn’t mean we can go out and start burning things and destroying property.
Oh I agree! But I’m pointing out that Israel even without Covid is in “lockdown” mode due to their military and security issues — despite having a thriving nightlife and cafe culture in places like Tel Aviv...

The last story I read about the Mercury Theater broadcast suggested that the panic wasn’t anywhere as widespread as subsequent legend made it out to be. I wish I could give you my source. I may have to do some refresher research.
One thing I do remember is my father telling me he listened to the whole thing and wasn’t fooled for a minute. Neither was there any disturbance in his neighborhood.
Of course, the 1938 panic didn’t bring the entire nation to its knees for month after month.
