The state appears to be posting backlogged cases as if they occurred on the days in question.
Florida health officials appear to have inflated recent record coronavirus case numbers there by as much as 30%, according to an analysis of data released by the state's Department of Health.
U.S. health officials have been warning for several weeks that COVID-19 case trends in Florida are pointing to a possible looming catastrophe as the state records ever-increasing numbers of the disease. After several months of flat infection rates, positive case results in Florida began rising slowly in mid-June before beginning a steep climb near the end of the month.
Deaths in the state have remained largely flat over that time period, leaving experts struggling to explain why surging case rates have not resulted in an uptick in mortality. One possibility, according to data provided by the state itself, is that the new case numbers regularly posted by Florida health officials have been significantly inflated in recent weeks.
'Chart date' vs 'event date'
At issue is how Florida quantifies its COVID-19 data. The state's dashboard presents new cases in a relatively straightforward manner, presenting a bar chart that displays "new cases of residents by day."

I don’t know about you but I don’t believe any of this data. The entire thing is an exaggeration that must be kept going until the election. After Trump wins his second term you will never hear about the Chinese Communist Party Virus.
Leftists in government agencies seem to be very devious. Time to send some to Gitmo to get some truth out of them.
The numbers of deaths in Florida are still so low as to be anecdotal.
Lies...lies...and more lies. Honestly is so “then”.
The deep state is like a terminal cancer. Invades every organ (state) until the host dies. I believe the coup against Pres. Trump is alive and active.
Agree. Its insidious at this point.
Looking for 15 minutes of fame and MORE MONEY!!!
Cases are not important.
Excess Deaths are. Declaring deaths flat over a given period of case increase is not a valid measure. Obviously a case can be declared via test and result, only hours apart. A death requires days or weeks of time for that new case to travel to infect an older person and for that older person to descend to death. Some of the declared cases will be older in themselves, but this is tending to be a small % of the total.
Post 4th of July holiday Florida deaths have upticked substantially over the past 5-6 days. This will likely appear in the Excess Deaths totals next week (they are delayed a week at CDC).
Even death statistics should be doubted until they appear in Excess Deaths. Only Excess Deaths prevent normal pneumonia being double counted.
Oh oh ooohhh — what a shock!

+++++
You may be on to something. The U.S. death count as suddenly, post July 4th weekend, risen sharply.
Since it is clear that the daily infection data is being manipulated, or at least distorted, could it be we are now seeing the same thing with deaths?
And where do we find Excess Deaths data?
Simple explanation: delays in testing have bunched up case reporting and made for the false impression of a large spike in cases.
As far as method goes, my first priority would be to avoid double-counting “event date” and “case date” information. The second priority should be to avoid changing method in mid-stream, as that can lead to a faulty trend. Finally, backlogged data should be addressed with considerable judgement as they not only affect totals, but also trends.
As far as I know, state and national dashboards are among our best sources of information. They also have big problems.
NJ and NY have recently shown daily death spikes that are just not credible. It seems that these ridiculous spikes have not been picked up in the United States dashboard. NJ and NY spikes in deaths exceed that of the entire nation for the days in question.
One spike in deaths from NY appeared about a week ago and was removed. Back to normality and sanity for a few days. Now NY reports a new absurd spike. Is this how they count votes in NY?
Many Covid cases in Florida in Clearwater at a local hospital. some rapid Covid swabs are showing a false positive. If they are a Covid high risk they are admitted. A Covid low risk they are sent home.
recall a news story a month or more ago, about a doctor signing the death certificate for one killed in a car accident complaining the cause of death was cited on the document as Covid-19. The reason given was that the deceased had the virus in his system and referred to a CDC directive.
Perhaps it’s because we’ve got some variant strain of coronavirius previously that inoculated the population? I believe we got it here way earlier (starting in early Autumn) and it wasn’t as “deadly” as whatever else hit the rest of the country.
They’ve just amazed that they “found” lots of people who’ve already had it via testing. But they’re still ordering people to wear hankies like train robbers to go shopping in stores.
I used to think that the Deep State consisted of folks in the intelligence agencies, FBI/DOJ, and Congress critters. I now believe that the NIH and the bureaucrats in the entire health care system can do much more damage to this country than the aforementioned.
“Since it is clear that the daily infection data is being manipulated, or at least distorted, could it be we are now seeing the same thing with deaths?

Excess Deaths derive from death count for the same weeks/months of 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 averaged together. The data from those years are ALL CAUSES. All causes of death. Car accidents, cancer, flu, everything.
The bad news is we have had a spike in Excess Deaths this year. It’s not all bullshit. The coronavirus is indeed killing people, and a lot of them. But that spike was mostly in the US Northeast, led by NY and NYC (that are tabulated separately). Many states have shown no Excess Deaths — for the obvious reason that they have had nearly no coronavirus deaths.
Lockdown is very clear on the graphs. Excess Deaths fell sharply, again led lower by the Northeast.
The recent upsurge in reported virus deaths has not yet been confirmed by Excess Deaths. Those are delayed. No evidence yet they are false. If Excess Deaths also spike in the next few days/weeks, then it is all real.
