The United States now has so few deaths due to COVID-19 that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday it is approaching the threshold for dipping below the level of an epidemic.
The CDC defines an epidemic as an outbreak from which the number of deaths per week exceeds a given percentage of total deaths within the nation. The number of deaths from COVID-19 has steadily declined since hitting its peak in early May after it began spiking in the second week in March.
That threshold death rate for COVID-19 and other diseases such as influenza and pneumonia fluctuates, ranging typically from 5 to 7 percent at the height of flu season. The CDC said the Wuhan flu death rate had, during the last week in June, become equal to the epidemic threshold of 5.9 percent, reaching its lowest point since the end of last year.

Exactly. A new strain of the cold or flu will simply be tacked on to Covid-19 and called “Wave 2.”
The Valley sends some of them here...Coos Bay. The aforementioned facility apparently has better funding than some places. I’m on good terms with quite a few of the regulars at the lake. I see a lot of messed up behavior, though.

Agree with the chart and your statement.
Having said that, the problem is with the MSM shrieking on a daily basis about new cases popping up in many states and ICU units in a number of states starting to be close to full.
How do we combat that crap - especially when there are such a large amount of low info voters who’ll swallow anything the MSM tells them.
To me, that’s the most aggravating part.
I think there will just come a time when the fake narrative has zero bite because there won't be any new dramatic information.
They've certainly pressed hard on the new case count ... but the problem is if deaths don't respond, then all they've done is prove how un-dangerous covid is.
But hey! Still 4 months to election. I'm sure they've got more fun planned.
It seems this would be a good precedent for a wave of lawsuits challenging the legitimacy of the restrictions that have been put in place of its no longer an epidemic

If you look at the death curve you can not correlate it to any action that's been taken. It's the curve of an infection running through a population, with adjustments for the fact that there are lots of small and large infections that started at different times throughout the US. You certainly can't say with any confidence that any curve was flattened. For that, you'd need something to compare it to. MAYBE you compare a little bit to Sweden, but is the fact that they were on average 25% or so higher than us due to anything they did? Other Euro nations were higher than they were, others lower.
We put a few stakes in the cove. Not only did we do that, but the CDC and WHO and Fauci, even as the tide had passed the not-very-experts said "No over here! No over there! No! A wider stake! No! A thicker stake! No! No stake! More stakes! Fewer stakes! Tall stakes! Short Stakes! Curved Stakes! Blue Stakes! And the tide came in. And the tide went out. It went no higher, nor lower, nor slower, nor faster ... than any other tide. It went right around the stakes. Didn't even notice them.
It came in on a smooth curve a little quickly, and it left just as smoothly and a litter more slowly. Just like an epidemic curve.
