The first of many of GOPe going AWOL. The GOPe want the convention to fail and will do what they can to make it happen.

Did that post make you feel big and important. You might be a fat a$s, but you’re sure not important.

He’s 86...that alone is sufficient and likely most people understand what that means. He’s already explained well enough.

He’s a United States Senator. If he can’t do his job he needs to resign.

If you can’t run with the big dogs it’s time to retire to the kennel.

“Did that post make you feel big and important”

Why, yes; yes it did.

“You might be a fat a$s, but you’re sure not important.”

What even does that mean? Step away from the Stoly bottle.

Given his age, he’s at high risk of contracting and dying from that “widdle viwus”.

Depends on what you mean by "high". With precautions his risk of contracting is very low. If he gets COVID then his risk of death is low since he is healthy. By low I mean 5% or less. He may not consider that to be low, and I can understand that.

Live free or die.

I know a couple of people in their 80's who were positive with no symptoms. One 85 year old woman who had two weeks of HCQ and other treatments and did ok. There are people who might not like a 1 in 10 case mortality risk, or who are not healthy and can be excused for staying away.

I was really hoping Grassley would just come right out and say: “I will not be attending the GOP convention because I’ve got front-row seats for the Metallica concert that night!” :-P

It would be really smart to retire and give an opportunity for a younger Republican.

Grassley does a good job and most importantly he votes the right way.

If you are too old and sick to go to the convention you are too old and sick to be in office.

And after forty years in office you should be out of there any way.

I guess I use Mom as a baseline. She’s 96, lives her life, goes places, wears no mask, from “sturdy New England stock”.

I guess I shouldn’t consider her situation; everyone is different.
