Pa. Gov. Tom Wolf said Monday that an expanded mask-wearing order signed by his Health Sectary last week could be in place until there is a coronavirus vaccine.
Speaking at an event at the PSECU Child Care Center Playground where new means of funding and support for child care centers was discussed, Wolf later fielded a question regarding how long the mask-wearing order would be in place and if there were any indicators that he was watching for regarding possibly ending it sooner rather than later.
Im sort of thinking this is until we get a vaccine, but I dont have any real formal goal there, Wolf said on a video of the news conference. There are some places where people just wear masks, as a matter of, just people wear them. I think it might be a good idea.
This is something that actually does make you safer when Im wearing a mask makes me safer when youre wearing a mask, and if we cant practice social distancing thats a really important thing. Models out there suggest that states, areas where people wear masks, the infection rate is actually lower. This is something that, as we get into infectious disease, and knows when this is going to end, we probably ought to be thinking about this [a mask] just to keep each other safe.
The order from Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine requires Pa. citizens or those visiting the state to wear a mask in all outdoor public spaces if they cant socially distance and also while inside of businesses. There are some exceptions, including for safety and health reasons, and while the Health Department has said its not asking police to enforce the order, it applies to anyone over the age of 2.
In other news, Wolf also said that he is concerned about new breakouts of positive coronavirus cases occurring in the state. Mondays total of 450 new confirmed coronavirus cases was the lowest one-day total since June 18, but its expected that other areas of the state could see a spike in positive tests in the days to come following the July Fourth holiday like the one Allegheny County is experiencing. There, bars and restaurants can not serve alcohol to dine-in customers.
We have seen breakouts in certain areas, Wolf said. Allegheny County is the big area of concern at this point. There have been others, more modest [outbreaks] in the past, but right now, Allegheny Countys is the area and were working closely with them.
Pennsylvania has shown as a state an increase in the number of cases but keep in mind thats from a pretty low base. We were, and had been fairly successful I think; states were talking 10,000 new cases a day. Were now at 500 over the weekend, new cases. Thats up, because we were down between three and 400 before, so that that is up and thats a concern. Its up in localized places and I think what were doing is focused on those areas and the specific things that seem to cause them in those areas so I remain concerned.
You are so right. It is going to take a popular uprising to throw off the oppressor state dictators. The courts are not going to stop him and it. We will have to do it ourselves otherwise every new submission will only result in more oppression.
I will go to jail for that. Thoreau spent some time in the clinker.
He is likely to hand PA to Trump.
> First, the health commissioner is an old man in a dress. Id rely on that. Not. <
If the old guy wants to dress up like a woman, thats his own business. But I agree with you. He then loses all credibility with most people.
It would be like if he showed up wearing a baby bonnet, a bib, and a diaper. Go right ahead, pal. Its a free country. But don’t expect me to take you seriously.
One of them was my 97 year old aunt.
I am very sorry about your aunt.
I know a guy whose 91-year old aunt died of COVID in a nursing home in Philly.
She shared the room with her 94-year old husband.
Despite sharing a room with a woman who died of COVID he not only never became ill, he never even tested positive!
Yet Wolf says you need to wear a mask when walking down the sidewalk.

You inadvertently forgot the binky!
President Trump says we’re close on a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. Multiple candidates are in phase 3 trials right now.
We were close on SARS in 2003 and MERS as well. Multiple candidates made it to phase 3, but those two burned out quickly so the funding for phase 3 trials dried up before they could be completed.
There are vaccines for RNA viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2, including rubella, polio, and hepatitis A.
I am sorry for your loss
My church community lost a gentleman in his 80s and my wife lost a cousin in law in also in her 80s
I Was in a hardware store in PA this morning and absolutely no one was wearing a mask, and no one gives a rip what gives Wolf thinks
I am sorry to learn this.
What the governor and the freak did was murder.
Mass murder.
Governor Death isnt up for reelection so he can continue with the Nazi rules.
Who do you think you are to question your betters?

Anybody who forces the population to wear a mask in public, especially with threat of arrest or fine by police with guns who can cage you, deserves everything bad that happens to them.

My condolences. A dear person like your aunt went through the Depression, and then through WW II. It is beyond tragic that she should pass away through the actions of a stupid, uncaring, and evil government.
And I deliberately chose the word evil there. Secretary Levine ordered nursing homes to accept virus cares. That was stupid, and uncaring.
But at the same time Levine took his own mother out of a nursing home. He knew what was going to happen there. Thats evil.
THE DEATH RATE IS DOWN 90% !!!!
S*w them. I just wrote to our own mayor in Florida telling him to back off. People are getting very angry in my town (Jacksonville, RINO mayor) because we were just opening up and he did this “masking” order.
People here (black or white) are law abiding and submissive. But and there’s a lot of NE Dem retirees living here with their offensive Baby Trump blowup figures on their lawns. I wouldn’t dare put up a Trump sign because they’d probably torch my house
That said, there’s anger here against the shutdown and these new measures among both blacks and whites.
