Charlie Daniels passes away after suffering stroke

Country music and southern rock legend Charlie Daniels has passed away after suffering a stroke, his representatives announced Monday.

The Grand Ole Opry member and Country Music Hall of Famer was 83.

Years ago, I was a “security person” at one of his concerts at a local racetrack. I got a sandwich, and a can of coke, plus of course, a ringside seat for the job. What a blast!
