Within days of the first confirmed novel coronavirus case in the United States on 20 January, antivaccine activists were already hinting on Twitter that the virus was a scam—part of a plot to profit from an eventual vaccine.
Nearly half a year later, scientists around the world are rushing to create a COVID-19 vaccine. An approved product is still months, if not years, away and public health agencies have not yet mounted campaigns to promote it. But health communication experts say they need to start to lay the groundwork for acceptance now, because the flood of misinformation from antivaccine activists has surged.
Such activists have “kicked into overdrive,” says Neil Johnson, a physicist at George Washington University who studies the dynamics of antivaccine groups on social networks. He estimates that in recent months, 10% of the Facebook pages run by people asking questions about vaccines have already switched to antivaccine views.
Recent polls have found as few as 50% of people in the United States are committed to receiving a vaccine, with another quarter wavering. Some of the communities most at risk from the virus are also the most leery: Among Black people, who account for nearly one-quarter of U.S. COVID-19 deaths, 40% said they wouldn’t get a vaccine in a mid-May poll by the Associated Press and the University of Chicago. In France, 26% said they wouldn’t get a coronavirus vaccine.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is now working on a plan to boost “vaccine confidence” as part of the federal effort to develop a vaccine, Director Robert Redfield told a Senate committee this week. Advocates urge campaigns that include personal messages and storytelling.

When my oldest son was 10 we were waiting for port call as my husband was on orders for Vietnam. My son was going to school and when he came to the hotel we were staying I noticed he had the Measles. So naturally we kept him out of school.
A week or so later his 6 year old brother came down with the Measles, I noticed some red bumps on the skin of our seven month old daughter and thought she also had the Measles. So my husband said I am going to take you to your parents and will pick you up when the kids are better and we can fly to the States.
To make a long story short our daughter did not have the Measles like I thought but had Meningitis. The kind that affects the lining of the brain. She was a very ill baby, but had a very good doctor. My husband thanked him when she was released.
She is deaf in her left ear due to the Nerve damage that was caused by the illness, but she is married and lives in Amarillo, she and her husband have a 14 year old son and she celebrated her 50th Birthday on March 1st.

Agreed, no vaccine for myself or family. Word is out Moderna uses DNA altering developement, first in history. Secondly, it uses aborted baby tissue. Maybe, a big maybe, if they remove the lawsuit immunity and I see millions of sheeple unaffected with side effects years down the road I might rethink it. That said,I choosed to not vaccinate my 23 year old and 13 year old with all the standard govt mandated vaccines- one was Valedictorian and top college highest honors grad and the 13 year old just as bright and healthy. Enough of this Corona hoax.

Here’s the other thing, and maybe I’m crazy, but the minute anyone tries to make something mandatory, that’s when I get really suspicious. I start asking questions like who wants this compulsory and what do they benefit from it? Sometimes the answer is perfectly reasonable and it makes sense, but if something smells wrong, 9 times out of 10 there’s something bigger going on, especially when they want to force it on me “for my good.” I just know too much about human nature, and humans are overwhelming selfish. They are usually looking out for their own good.
Your kids either take the vaccine or they can’t attend public schools.

Maybe someone should READ how ‘they’ tried to handle Syphilis back in the 30s and 40s etc or experiment with LSD in the late 40s.
The syphilis ‘experiments’ were practiced on Blacks with Tuskegee Institute ‘leading the charge’ (YES the same Tuskigee Institute) with the Black ‘participants’ being told they were getting FREE HEALTHCARE...
The LSD experiments were practiced on service members and some people were convinced they could ‘fly’ and tried to prove it. They were correct until they hit something VERY solid.
Germany and Japans were vilified (Rightly So) for using POWs during WWII is just another example of mans inhumanity to man when it came to ‘cures’.
Also Fort Detrick Maryland has a ‘history’ with infectious diseases etc

Yes - as I wrote elsewhere, people who get vaccines are “cured” but these people usually fret about the unvaccinated lot. But why? - you’re “saved” and these unvaccinated people aren’t of any potential harm to you. Let them get sick if they want. Yea, yea, I get it...they can infect “the community” but a) one man’s negative externality is another man’s positive externality, and b) who made the vaccinated group the Lone Ranger of immunodeficiency?
