Darrida and Foucault took the actions of their Jacobin forebears and built an academic structure, deconstruction, and with the help of many, in the US it was The Modern Language Assoc, Zinn, and Chomsky it was introduced without any evaluation into the schools. I encountered it at Queens College in ‘90 while going for my MS in Soc St Ed. My main prof, Jack Zevin, an affable guy, was pushing the idea of the narrative being supreme and facts being irrelevant. I had to research deconstruction so I could challenge him. There were some fun times in the class, but I could see the younger students were eating this up.
