Scientists say strain of coronavirus dominant around the world is different than what originated in Wuhan

A strain of the coronavirus that was first seen in Italy is now the dominant strain of the virus, a group of scientists said Thursday.

In an article published by the peer-reviewed science journal Cell, researchers working with the Sheffield COVID-19 Genomics Group announced that the new strain "has become the most prevalent form in the global pandemic." The strain is different than what appeared in Wuhan, China, the city where the coronavirus is believed to have originated.

According to the science journal, tracking of the virus frequency revealed a prevalence of the dominant strain, labeled G614, that took over the prevalence of D614, the original strain.

"Dynamic tracking of variant frequencies revealed a recurrent pattern of G614 increase at multiple geographic levels: national, regional and municipal. The shift occurred even in local epidemics where the original D614 form was well established prior to the introduction of the G614 variant," the scientists wrote in their abstract, referring to the two strains.

"The consistency of this pattern was highly statistically significant, suggesting that the G614 variant may have a fitness advantage," they continued.

However, scientists cannot agree on the reasoning for the new strain's dominance — researchers with the study suggested that the newer strain may be more virulent, while others contended in comments included with the study that the dominance could be due to its spread in the U.S.

Maybe Chinese operatives are spreading it around.

Remember the Chinese chicks who showed up at Mar a Lago?

Ohh yes.

It wasn’t very dangerous until Trump let it spread around America, which amplified its virulence far beyond its original Wuhanic form.

Riiight.

The initial strain was released in China as cover for the strain sent to Italy and the US using Chinese carriers. This gave time to spread the more weaponized and ethnospecific variant.

Weapon. No two ways about it.

15% of annual ‘colds’ are caused by coronavirus. Those strains of coronavirus didn't just go away because of Covid. Considering the number of people infected with Covid, it is highly likely that Covid and coronavirus strains responsible for ‘colds’ have shared the same human hosts, many, many times. This will lead to shared random encapsidation of viral RNA, and possible cross-over recombination in such a way as to lead to rapid changes in viral pathogenicity.

Now Who is too know what the differences are with these viral infections since the ChIComs refused to allow the U.S. to send our own epidemiologist to do an inspection and to take virus samples.

Know matter what the Chinese say they are still responsible for spreading the ChiCom virus worldwide.

The new strain differs from the original by a single amino acid change in the spike protein. Glycine instead of aspartic acid.

Why? Hard to tell, and it’s an interesting article.

But the improper use of the word, than, is annoying. Than implies a quantitative difference between the two strains, but neither strain is more different “than” the other. They are, however, different from one another.

These punks get hold of an error with permission from a troublemaker to use it, and they go crazy with it for years.

What is the implication of the new strain having glycine instead of aspartic acid?

So much for a vaccine. If there is one, it will have to change every year, just like the flu vaccine.

“What is the implication of the new strain having glycine instead of aspartic acid?”

Sequencing shows that this change resulted from a single base change. According to the paper this amino acid change increases the amount of virus produced in the lungs and makes the virus more infectious and easier to detect. In areas where the mutated form is present it out competes the original form and quickly takes over in the population. However it does not increase the severity of the disease.

Maybe that’s why more cases but fewer deaths.
