MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) Myrtle Beach City Council has approved a mandate requiring face masks to be worn in certain public places.
The order starts at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, July 2, and will remain in effect for 67 days, which is through Labor Day, or until rescinded, or until the expiration of the declaration of a civil emergency.
According to the executive order, individuals would be required to wear the face coverings, defined as a uniform piece of cloth, fabric, or other material that securely covers a persons nose and mouth and remains affixed in place without the use of ones hands, when inside retail establishments and food service establishments, and the enclosed common areas of overnight accommodations establishments.
Retail establishments are listed as businesses like grocery stores, convenience stores, commercial stores, pharmacies, and barbershops and hair salons, among others.
Food service establishments encompass any business that sells prepared food on a dine-in, delivery, carry-out or drive-through basis, according to the order.
Overnight accommodations establishments are hotels, motels, condos, rental properties and private campgrounds.
Staff at those businesses will also be required to wear face masks while working in areas open to the general public and in areas where social distancing among employees cannot be observed.
Any person in violation will be guilty of a civil infraction punishable by a penalty of not more than $100.
The decision comes as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the Grand Strand and throughout the state.
Several cities across the Palmetto State have passed mandates requiring face masks, including North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.
‘Washing hands wont prevent you from getting COVID, but can help you spreading it to yourself from touching contaminated surfaces and then touching ears, nose, mouth, or eyes and transferring the virus to yourself.’
thanks for the tips, Dr Birx...
banning motor vehicles saves lives
MB is a couple hours from me.
I haven’t been there in a decade and zero plans to go back.
everybody and his grandma (the ones we didnt kill by living our lives in a normal fashion) knows the damn things are merely virtue signalers, worn to appease suburban women, but now were supposed to be all in for them...

I guarantee you have more liberty wearing a mask than being 6 feet under.
ok, so now let’s try it in plain English...
HCQ + zPak + zinc.
Any more questions?
But much better off than a craven coward crawling on his belly to lick the feet of his masters.
It looks like many SC beach towns are passing similar ordinances. Hilton Head and Kiawah require masks in commercial establishments.

Masks help reduce transmission.

Sorry about that.
Admittedly I have swung from being a flubro to being a covid warrior then now to the point of not knowing what to think. Bottom line is that if you want to do business in public, you are going to have mask up, otherwise stay at home and further enrich Jeff Bezos. Hopefully the tyrants can get voted out come November, but the Republicans are just as big on restrictions as the Democrats.
‘I guarantee you have more liberty wearing a mask than being 6 feet under.’
witty, witty...just for the record, you are aware that well over 60% of these 6 feet under occurrences are among the 70+ age group, and that even in that cohort, the chances of dying from it are minute minus other compromising morbidities, such as COPD, obesity, diabetes and other various maladies; I’m sure you’re also aware that during this current craze is being driven, not by deaths or hospitalizations, which would in fact signal a problem, but by cases...cases among younger people, who have basically zero chance of dying...
currently, we are not allowed to be near the compromised individuals; your defense of the healthy people walking around wearing masks to protect other healthy people is absurd...
How do you eat with a mask on? If you take it on and off aren’t you cross contaminating the mask? And how do you deal with fogged up glasses when you exhale? And why not wear a plastic face shield that blocks all sneezes and coughs?
We need to put the entire country on the HCQ/Zinc cocktail and move on the way we did when we had pandemics like polio, measles, and the various flus throughout the country.
It's a freaking virus, which means EVERYBODY will be infected to one degree or another. "Help prevent the spread" just stretches out this foolishness until the election. That help Hiding Biden as he "obeys doctor's orders" to isolate himself (no debates) and validates using mail-in ballots "for your safety".
But much better off than a craven coward crawling on his belly to lick the feet of his masters.
I wonder if you have the same animus against people who wear seat belts and motorcycle helmets. I happen to like being alive. Is that a crime against liberty now?
“I guarantee you have more liberty wearing a mask than being 6 feet under.”
You assume not wearing a mask is deadly when the exact opposite may be true.
‘Bottom line is that if you want to do business in public, you are going to have mask up’
all so that suburban women and timid mice among the male population can nod their approval; haven’t we done a nice job of making ourselves of emasculating ourselves...
