Michigan Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib's claim that Detroit Police Department officers abused peaceful protesters is "totally inaccurate," Detroit Police Chief James Craig remarked Tuesday.
~snip~
"I know that the congresswoman is making claims that they were peacefully marching when we intersected and intentionally hit peaceful protesters. [That is] not the case," the chief added.
"They [surrounded] the vehicle, they began to pelt the vehicle not just one of our police cruisers but two of them and in one instance the rear window of one of our SUVs was broken out. And, the information I got from the officer in that vehicle was that he thought he was being shot at."
Craig told Bream that in reviewing videos of the incident, the "vast majority" of the city's community supports his department.
"Twenty to 30 were very agitated, escalated to anger, and then violence. They jumped on the hood. They began to pelt the car. The officers feared for their safety. And they had to do only one thing: they needed to get out of harm's way and they did that," he stated.

Really. God gave you a closed locked vehicle with an engine to drive yourself out of the danger and you would take the beating?
By design or by earnest, BLM types dont believe crime is a thing.
It’s unlawful detainment. Kidnapping is absconding with a person. Unlawful detainment is holding a person in place and not letting them move from that location with no intention of forcefully removing them. Since no person was absconded with but merely detained, it is considered unlawful detainment. But this is about extremes, right? So the extreme would be kidnapping.
I left the Detroit area just before James Craig was hired. Spent 48 years in the suburbs. James Craig is an excellent Chief of Police.
I was with one of my daughters when she was pulled over by an unmarked police car and a non-uniformed officer. (Federal Agent actually)
OK, so I set her up to be pulled over by a friend.
When we got done messing with her, I said to never ever pull over for an unmarked car. Deal with any repercussions later.
I’m sorry, I didn’t read your entire post very well.
I’ve been in a situation where a black mob was trying to get into my car. (I was on the phone with 911 and could see several police cars coming on fast.
Getting out of your car in such a situation is just flat stupid.
A guy in my old neighborhood did that about 15 years ago. Last I heard he’s still a vegetable.
Please, don’t be like him.
