Vladimir Putin is hours away from seizing power until 2036 as he casts his ballot on final day of 'rigged' vote on the future of constitution

Vladimir Putin is heading for victory in a referendum that could extend his rule until 2036 as Russia enters its final day of voting today. The Kremlin strongman would normally reach his term limit in 2024, but voters are set to back a plan to reset his tally to zero and allow him to run for two more terms. The package of constitutional changes would also increase Putin's powers to dissolve parliament and expand his influence over courts and prosecutors.

How do you know Putin’s replacement wouldn’t be even worse.

Remember when they tried “Democracy” in the Arab States? Didn’t exactly turn out well.

Old crooks are already engorged. New crooks need to fill up first. Old crooks easier.

How do we know he won't be better?

My point is, that I think it would behoove the nation to regularize the transfer of power. In the long run, I think that would be better for them than a politician grasping desperately for a continued hold on power.

“As recently as ten years ago, Moldavian Christians imorted North Carolina panty hose to be sold in Russia at a tremendous profit”

Surely, you must be joking. First, I assume you are referring to Moldova which is a FORMER Soviet republic no longer associated with Russia. Second, how many girls/ladies or whatever do you see who still wear pantyhose? Finally, have you noticed that about everything we get in our own country is imported? That is especially true for all of the essential medical needs we have had during the Wuhan virus episode. That includes PPE and even our life-critical drugs. They are not made in our own country.

I fully understand that their GDP does not compare with ours but they fall right in line with countries like Canada, Brazil, and Italy and ahead of S. Korea, Australia, and Spain at #11 in the world (GDP). That, by no means, makes them a third world country.

And, for heaven’s sake, don’t forget that have more nuclear weapons than we have and they have the means to deploy them. If you don’t believe me ask NATO or NORAD who spend a gazillion dollars protecting us (and Europe) against that threat.

I also noticed that no one was willing to take them on for their invasion and occupation of the Crimea in 2014. Do you think their military might (strength) just might be the reason?

While their former communist regime fell apart (like all of them), they have made a decent recovery with more freedoms and elections. Their people are free and have national pride — something we seem to have in great shortage and they have made many advancements both technically and for the sake of their people.

I’m not trying to beat their drum. I am only trying to be realistic about what many call one of our primary adversaries.

Your ignorance is excusable since you have no first hand knowledge. Russia is cold and pantyhose warm. Panty hose are extremely desired in Russia but they somehow were unable to develop the technology to manufacture them.

Yes, Moldova. They sold the panty hose to Russian women. I know bcause I actually saw them mixed in with used clothing and medical supplies being shipped from church to church

Communists made weapons but allowed their women to go without panty hose. They also and lived for years and years with out acetaminophen..... tylenol. Saddam Huesein had it but Russia did not. In the early ‘90s, they had no vice grips. They had no personal computers of fax machines.

Russia is backward

I wish U.S. women still wore pantyhose. They rarely do nowadays.

“ Russia is backward”

Well, then. If Russia is so backward why did we pay them millions of dollars to shoot our astronauts into space when we could not get the job done ourselves.

Does not seem so backward to me.

By the way, I’m not sure name calling does much for your argument.

Russia is defense oriented. The rockets are military products.

All that is not military is backward

The only products are weapons related resulting from catastrophic losses of people in WW II

You must be living in an alternate universe. If all of that is true, please answer the following from previous post.

1. Why does NATO and NORAD exist to protect us from a defensive Russia action?

2. How is putting Americans into space (when we can’t do it) defensive?

3. Exactly how did the defensive force invade and occupy Crimea — without a single country willing to stand up to that defensive force?

You are certainly entitled to your own opinion — but not your own facts.
