I asked myself this question from the start. From various news and video, CHOP had heavily harmed “occupiers" from the beginning. Being hard-core leftists with guns, one would assume at least a few strongly believe they are starting a global revolution, and would hunker down and fight. They had weeks to potentially build bunkers, stock ammo, arrange communications, etc…
And yet they are all simply giving up, without a fight. Isn’t that strange?
I feel they were there, almost as political actors, to provoke Trump into a response. He did not take the bait. The continued presence of this charade would hurt Democrat and Leftist image, so now this Broadway Play has been declared a success and is cancelled.

To tempt Trump into sending in the troops. For that to happen, though, (1) the Mayor has to agree (she did), (2) the Governor has to opt out (he did), (3) and there has to be sufficient provocation, such as bodies on the street (there were). I would not be in the least surprised to learn that the outrage stories at the Seattle Times, NYT, and Washington Post, were already written and awaiting the event. "Trump Overreacts, People Die," that sort of thing. That was the reason for the Mayor's "Summer of Love" idiocy and the insistence on the part of the media for minimizing the danger and criminality within the Zone.
It means, stated simply, that the Left is more than willing to sacrifice innocent lives for a political smear campaign. A surprising number of otherwise intelligent people would consider that an exaggeration, but it isn't.
It never should have been allowed to happen, and everything that has occurred, the lives lost, the businesses destroyed, the damage to property, and the cost of it all is on the Governor, the Mayor, and that radical piece of $hit councilwoman Kshama Sawant, and her staff that started the whole thing by letting them all into City Hall. I'd bet setting up the zone was her idea, and she helped make it happen.

The Lesbian Mayor was in on it. She’s dumber than a rock. She thought Trump would have federal agents or NG descend on this area and martyr a few dozen so the imagery and edited videos could be blasted around the world.
Trump didn’t fall for her trap.
Now she’s got the City facing at least two massive lawsuits that will easily climb into the tens of millions of dollars and more in damages.
She won’t see a second term.
That’s because the local government semi-covertly supported them and actually had the same goals.
The problem for them (and why they had suddenly backed off on Friday) was that while they wanted to provide every excuse for the CHOP to succeed, their donors were screaming at them to fix it. They are trying to balance their radical base with their donors, and they were hoping (and were completely rigged up) for it to become Kent State II: Electric Boogaloo with the ‘atrocity’ lovingly captured from several angles in 4K or higher and surround sound. Trump didn’t fall into that trap and now they have a big problem on their hands.

sometimes, the only way to get the truly stupid to understand something is to wrap that something around something else that is sharp and jagged, and jam it up into the stupids repeatedly until they bleed out.
Meaning, some can’t learn by thinking or reason, they must be shown. And some can’t learn by seeing, they have to have it shoved up in them and then get beat down hard enough that they simply never open their idiot mouths again.
The idea was to try to force Trump to make a move with some federal force or issue an order of some type.
He didn’t take the bait so they are losing instead of gaining points. So dismantle and move on to the next ploy....which is sounding like it might be a ‘new’ Chinese swine flu.
