We must have no stigma, none, about wearing masks when we leave our homes and come near other people. Wearing simple face coverings is not about protecting ourselves, it is about protecting everyone we encounter.
With an infection fatality rate somewhere between 0.26% (CDC lower bound) and 1% (Johns Hopkins upper likely), you’re talking about somewhere between 600,000 and 2,310,000 dead Americans. Considering we’re at about 130,000 deaths in right now, you’re talking about a half million to two million additional deaths. All of which are unnecessary if we get a safe and effective vaccine.
Anyone who is intentionally spreading this should be on trial for murder.
They can pass laws and issue executive orders all they want but I will not wear a mask.

The story said that even though the rate of coronavirus now is as high or higher than the peak of the outbreak, most citizens interviewed are simply "done with" quarantine measures and ignoring them mandatory or not. Basically because the government overreacted in the early days and wore out their public goodwill before the virus had even got a foothold.
If masks work, then why must every large event be cancelled? Why do they make WalMart safe, but not a outdoor fair?

Yep. My local walmart allows almost 600 people inside at once per state rules, however no more than 25 people can gather outside at once. Both groups are “required” to wear masks.
The difference is WM is “essential” while the outside gatherings are for enjoyment, and we can’t allow the latter to happen in a election year in a Dem run state.
The arbitrary rules are proof of government incompetence. They’ve never shown competence before, so I don’t know why anyone would expect them to be competent now.
Yea, it can. But if it was as bad as you make it out to be, then we wouldn’t be here. Because our immune system would have killed us off, long ago every time it came across something new.
I’m not suggesting anyone jump into a closed room with a 100 very sick people, but day to day exposure to everything floating around in the air is what teaches the system.

There are, in effect, two immune systems: the ‘innate’ immune system, and the ‘adaptive’ immune system. The innate system is locked and loaded against a wide variety of common germs. The adaptive system adapts to fight strange germs. That’s how vaccines work — they train the adaptive immune system to produce the antibodies required to target the novel viruses. It takes time for this training to work, and that’s why a vaccine has to be given in advance. From the moment you’re inoculated or infected, your adaptive immune system is preparing for combat. Sometimes it adapts quickly enough, and you recover — sometimes the virus kills you before your immune system has time to adapt.
